The best part of that entire moment is Tatum screaming out, "MILES DAVIS!" before diving through the gong.

I absolutely loved the movie; Tatum is a comedy genius and Hill was quite enjoyable. I think he may be like Seth Rogen and really in need of intelligent material instead of broad, uninspired crap.

I wouldn't say he's a 'comedic genius', but he did a good job in this movie.

No love for the Book?

In all probability, Grieco will probably be too busy providing craft services for the sequel to actually cameo in it.

It'd be awesome if they somehow work in that Booker was popular enough to warrant a spinoff but not popular enough for said spinoff to last more than one season.

Wasn't Booker only in a few episodes of 21 JS? It thought that they introduced him only for the purpose of spinning him off, which doesn't mean anything about his popularity. But maybe I'm misremembering.

Richard Grieco was a guest star throughout the entirety of season 3 and was meant to be killed off at the end of that season. Booker turned out to be a popular character so they gave him a spinoff show instead. But the show only lasted one season.

Just got back from this, really enjoyed it. Hadn't seen Tatum in anything before, he nailed it. I really liked Clone High, wasn't interested in Cloudy due to the trailers (but of course I loved the book). Now I'll definitely be seeing that. Wanted more Nick Offerman, but Ice Cube was an awesome Captain. I lost it when he had to repeat "Infiltrate the dealers, find the suppliers" 50 times.

Re: 21 Jump Street (2012, D. Lord/Miller) - Hill, Tatum - The Reviews Thread

saw this yesterday and thought it was a solid R-rated comedy. could've been a hell of a lot worse. not getting the hype behind tatum's performance. he was passable but he still can't act his way out of a paper bag. nice to see him have some decent comedic timing however. easily his best performance but that's really not saying much. didn't really care for some of the wonky CGI that was used particularly during the chase scenes. LOVED the tripping at school sequence. lots of laughs throughout the entire film but just didn't hit hard enough to put it in the "classic" category. i'm glad jonah hill was the spearhead behind this project so maybe people will start cutting him some slack. i give it a 7/10.

sidenote: didn't realize brie larson was in this and i could hardly recognize her. her face just seemed...wider? maybe i'm just used to seeing her as envy adams. such a cutie either way.

Re: 21 Jump Street (2012, D. Lord/Miller) - Hill, Tatum - The Reviews Thread

The cinematic treatment and update of "21 Jump Street", featuring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, was fairly entertaining. In keeping with the theme of sending in young-looking police officers to work undercover as students at a high school to ferret out the new potent drug before it spreads to other high schools, both Hill and Tatum have some fun with their characters, and the freaky Friday mix-up of their undercover identities, which land both of them in uncharted social circles, and the results are pretty funny.

The script even makes some meta-fun at the generic send-up of making movies out of old TV shows, and cliched movie genre moments (car chases and the inevitable explosions from collisions). Both Hill and Tatum have decent on-screen buddy-buddy chemistry, and the film moves along quite well, and provides laughs in most of the scenes.

I give it 3 stars or a grade of B.

Re: 21 Jump Street (2012, D. Lord/Miller) - Hill, Tatum - The Reviews Thread

I absolutely loved the TV show as a kid. So I went into the movie expecting to be entertained, at the very least. I was. I thought the movie was a very impressive comedy. Tatum has never impressed me, before this movie. The scene in the bad room was hilarious. Jonah Hill normally annoys the hell out of me, in this he was tolerable. I even found him funny for the most part. Rob Riggle was hilarious as always. Nick Offerman was unfunny as always.
As soon as I saw Holly Robinson I was on the lookout for Depp and Deluise, and boy were we not disappointed. We even got a cameo from Dustin Nguyen, sort of. But no Captain Fuller, which was disappointing. Also, no mention of the ties between Tatums character and the original Captain on the original TV show. Also disappointing.

Really? I thought his scene was hilarious, since he got to really lampoon the whole concept of remaking old ideas into new crap. He was playing the straight man in that scene, but I think as far as 'plot setup' scenes go, it was a highlight...with the rights discussion etc. I think you brought some sort of personal vendetta along with you... although I think Ron Swanson is one of TV's finest characters, so I guess the bias goes both ways.

I never saw him either. IMDB says this though, "Footage of Dustin Nguyen from the original show are shown on television screens during the shootout at the prom. Whenever Nguyen is shown, a TV screen gets shot."

My friend and I were laughing at that "cameo" while everyone else in the theater was dead silent.

We may have been the only two people in the audience with any familiarity with the television show.

I wonder why they chose to
Spoiler:
kill off Depp and Deluise.
I mean, it was funny and all but still a rather surprising decision given they were
Spoiler:
the leads of the show for quite a while.

Yeah, "Fuck Miles Davis" was the payoff to the band scene. lol

Really liked the movie but did they have to go there with that love interest angle? Jeesh
Spoiler:
she's a teenager/senior in high school. Felt creepy to me.

Eh, I think she said she was 18 and his character is supposed to be about 25. Really isn't all that unusual.

Yeah, she was supposed to be 18 and he was supposed to be in his early 20's (25 at the most). Didn't bother me one bit.

Yeah, she's 18 but still a High School Senior. Maybe I'm sensitive to those things because I work in a school but still, thats a creep move. lol
