Well she's better than a lot of actors but doesn't really stand out as a draw or detraction.

The only actress these days that I always expect an interesting performance from is Tilda Swinton.

Her acting talent is on full display in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. Her role in it is certainly one of the finer lead performances in recent years, other actresses have been nominated for Oscars with lesser work. Apparently the project had been close to her heart and she had been trying to get it made for years.

She's good, but I agree with what others have said. If she does as much as one successful romantic comedy, she'll settle into a niche and become an overpaid actress.

granted it was done for HBO, but if the Normal Heart had gone to theaters, Roberts would be at or near the top in a Best supporting actress race (believe she did win the Emmy for the role)
