They should end the series with John McLane getting killed while on viagra... and simply call it John McLane: Die Hard.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard

Has anyone confirmed yet just how hard the deaths are going to be? Guys getting shot just isn't hard enough for me. I need my Die Hard deaths to be fucking extreme, brutal, just HARD AS FUCK.

Yeah - As far as I know, the most gruseome Die Hard deaths involve:

- chopped up in the jet engine
- broken neck falling down the stairs
- head crushed by airport baggage machine
- icicle in the eye

And the majority of those belong to the earlier Die Hards. The newer ones have gotten tamer.

I'd have to say the broken neck may be the hardest out of those. And the head crusing is a close second.

I didn't mind seeing that Russian chick in her underwear a second time, though.
This happened to me when I went to see The King's Speech, they played the trailer for Cowboys and Aliens 3 TIMES!!! The first it looked like an interesting movie. The second time, people in the audience (all old folks, was an 11am matinee) laughed at all the familar moments. Third time people started groaning and sounding really annoyed. I thought to myself, Wow, this movie's gonna bomb.

I'd say the icicle in the eye is my favorite one, just because:

1) It shows McClane at his most resourceful moment

2) It got the most "oohs and aahs!" when I saw it in the theater back in July 1990

Hard to argue with that. The icicle is a great hard death indeed. Wish McClane would've stabbed him with it, twisted it, then smashed his head Irreversible style. That would've been hard as fuck.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard

Hold on to your Die Hard marathon ticket stubs, because a sixth movie is already in the works The fifth installment of the franchise, A Good Day to Die Hard, is due out Feb. 14, and Bruce Willis has delivered an early Valentine’s Day gift to his fans with confirmation of a Die Hard 6.

According to Bleeding Cool, when Willis was asked by BBC’s One Show if there would be a Die Hard 6, he smiled and said only, “Yes.” That’s enough of a confirmation for us, as he’s the backbone of the series and the main thing that’s been keeping it alive the past 25 years.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard

Pretty excited for this one. Was going to do the marathon in theaters but I have to work the 13th so I guess watching the first four films on Blu-ray before seeing the new one will have to do.

Also nice news to hear that it sounds like we will get a sixth entry in the series. I sort of thought this might be the end of the series after all this time.

That's what happens when the studio censors and chops up the film to make it more sanitary. That's why there are so many audio issues with that film.

As for those of you looking forward to that R rating, I wouldn't get your hopes up. Looks like Fox did the same thing to this one they did to the last one.

The fifth film in the Die Hard franchise, the confusingly named A Good Day To Die Hard, has been given a 12A rating by the British Board of Film Classification, even though it was classified as an R over in the US.

You can read the BBFC's guidance below, but be warned in advance that it contains the words "mild innuendo".

"The film contains four uses of strong language ('f**k') and a partial use of ‘motherf***er’, the end of which has been cut short so the implied strong language is not heard in full".

"Against a backdrop of explosions, car chases and the destruction of property, there are a number of scenes featuring shootings which occasionally show brief bullet impacts, but there is no focus on blood or injury. In scenes of hand-to-hand combat we see brief punches and kicks, impressionistic rifle butt blows and an implied, but unseen, neck break. Although there are some crunchy sound effects and incidental shots of the heroes with blood on their faces and clothes, no detail of injury is shown.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard

Apparently it was pre-cut in the UK though:

"During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission"
So the version the BBFC classified might be slightly different to the R rated version anyway

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard

UK print is cut/censored

The info was initially missing, but a new entry has been added to the BBFC’s page on the film, making clear that this is not the same film as will be released in the US:

During post-production, the distributor sought and was given advice on how to secure the desired classification. Following this advice, certain changes were made prior to submission.
UPDATE: And the BBFC have now belatedly added a section called Precuts Information, offering up the following:

This work was originally seen for advice in an unfinished form. The company was advised that the film was likely to receive a ’15′ certificate but that their preferred ’12A’ classification could be achieved by making a number of cuts to both language and visuals.

When the finished version of the film was submitted for formal classification, edits had been made to reduce the number of uses of strong language (both ‘f**k’ and ‘motherf***er’) and to reduce sequences of bloody violence, including blood sprays when characters are shot in the head, and punches to restrained individuals. The formal submission was consequently rated ’12A’.

So that’s what we’ll be missing when the film screens here in the UK.

Thanks for the clarification. Although I'm not sure why the word "fuck" every other sentence and blood everywhere is going to make the film any better.

Re: A Good Day To Die Hard

The UK is weird w/ their censoring. We're pussies here at time but it kind of makes sense w/ the changes they've done here using that mindset. The UK always surprises me w/ their censoring. T2...no kneecap shooting.

Because that means things are being done "hard" in this movie. The problem with the last movie was that it was soft and it sucked softly. As long as things are being done hard(even if it sucks hard), everyone in this thread is fine with that.
