I 2nd this. The Bad Boys movies are some of the few Smith movies I enjoy.
As for I am Legend: The Prequel I dont know. The first one was ok but underwhelming. It was WAY too short and didnt even feel like a complete film. The end came way to fast and was too little IMO. Also the creatures looked terrible. But if they manage a way to make this one interesting and not look like a blatant attempt at stealing money from peoples' wallets I might rent it on DVD. Or if its over 2 hours I might go see it at theaters.

I Am Legend Sequel (Dir: Akiva Goldsman, S: Will Smith?, 2014?)
From Deadline.com. I didn't bump the I Am Legend Prequel thread from 4 years ago, because of the following mentioned in highlight. Also, Will Smith hasn't officially signed on yet. Goldsman was hired to direct and they hired a writer.
EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has closed deals with Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment to do another installment of I Am Legend, the 2007 hit film. The intention is for Will Smith to reprise his role as scientist Robert Neville, who was the last man on Earth doing battle with a mutated mob in New York City after an apocalyptic man-made virus wiped out the population. A deal was made with Arash Amel to write the script. The film is not being called a prequel, which had been rumored for the past few years. But clearly Warner Bros sees more room to roam on a film that grossed $584 million worldwide. The original film is based on the novel by Richard Matheson.
Smith won’t commit until the script is ready and I haven’t heard yet where I Am Legend director Francis Lawrence stands on the whole thing. The other quandary is this: If it isn’t a prequel, how to get past Smith’s character’s demise at the first film’s end? These of course are semantics in the tentpole game. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures are casting a continuation of 300, another hit film where all the major characters croaked. Amel is a hot scribe; his script Grace Of Monaco, the film about Grace Kelly that will be directed by La Vie En Rose‘s Olivier Dahan with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam producing and financing, has all the young actresses salivating. Buyers are also waiting to pounce. CAA made the deals.

I saw the first one years ago but don't remember much about it... Says a lot about the movie.

Spoiler:
So basically, according to the quote in the OP, we have no star and no script. Sounds like something worth getting excited over.

I liked the movie a good amount until the woman and child come into play. After that it gets predictable. Good performance from Smith though.

I wish they had just made a closer adaptation of the book. I enjoyed the book quite a bit.

I loved the first one, till the jarringly bad monsters show up. Then it was just pretty good. The dormant-NYC stuff was awesome. The dog scene was heartbreaking. The final ten minutes was intense (though it felt like it was cut short).
I would want to see them bring in the plot of the book (the main character was really the monster, killing all of those "evolved" humans). But I guess they already killed that, because they made them feral monsters.

A good looking film, but one where CG just kills a lot of the drama, and peril of the whole thing. If they'd stuck with at least a few actors in make-up it could've been fantastic...wasn't Johnny Depp attached to co-star at one point?

The film was promising until the straight from a Video Game CGI monsters came into the picture, then it went downhill fast...a real shame.
And sadly, i will never be able to listen to Bob Marley the same way ever again

Goldsman won't direct the sequel, he'll most likely be a producer and possibly a screenwriter like the first outing.
I liked the first film, until the woman and child were introduced into the picture. After that it became a steaming pile of shit.
