Re: Escape Plan (2013) S: Stallone, Schwarzenegger

Saw it today and loved it. Comments and questions:

Spoiler:

What was the whole thing with Gomer Pyle, why did he want Breslin to stay in prison? He had secretly invested in the prison so he didn't want Breslin to show it didn't work? But if so why not just work behind the scenes just to make sure Breslin wasn't hired in the first place?

How awesome was it for Plan C to tell Hobbes G-d is great and for Hobbes to say back, Yeah, whatever.

Arnold speaking German, awesome.

Re: Escape Plan (2013) S: Stallone, Schwarzenegger

I saw this today with the family and we all really liked it a lot.

I was actually surprised by how much I liked it. It was better from a dramatic standpoint than I expected, and the action was pretty much what I was expecting. The script was solid, the acting was more than good enough (Arnold actually gave a fairly nuanced performance, Stallone did what he had to do to make the character work, and I love Sam Neill), and I thought the direction was fairly good, too.

If this movie had been released in 1992 or 1993 it would have been huge at the box office.

For me this is a definite Blu Ray purchase.

It was just what I expected out of a Stallone/Schwarzenegger movie. They're old but they could still kick my butt. There were a few catchy lines and maybe I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention but I was surprised by the first twist (finding out where the prison was).
I enjoyed it and would watch it again.

Re: Escape Plan (2013) S: Stallone, Schwarzenegger

Went to see this tonight before it left theaters.

Thought it was pretty good. If you're a fan of Sly and Arnold, I can't see you not enjoying this movie.

Good action and I thought they played well off each other and there were some funny lines. Jim Caviezel from Person of Interest was a good and very menacing villain.

The prison was pretty cool, but I did see the twist coming that it was a boat in the middle of nowhere.

I agree with the earlier comment that if this movie came out 20 years ago, it probably would have been a hit. Unfortunately Sly and Arnold aren't huge draws anymore probably because of their ages.

I didn't get why Arnold needed the goofy goatee and grey hair. He's already in his 60's, they didn't need to age him anymore.

I think I will pick this up when it comes on BD early next year.

I'm not sure why Summit thought they needed to change the name from "The Tomb" since that's the prison's name. I guess you just have to make the title idiot proof.

Is this movie officially a bomb?

Re: Escape Plan (2013) S: Stallone, Schwarzenegger

Saw this today and it rocked. Lots of fun and it was fairly obvious that Jim Caviezel was probably having the most fun of all playing the dickhead Warden.

My favorite line of the movie was:
Spoiler:
"Sleepy time, muthafucka," by 50 cent.

I didn't see the twists coming and it was really cool.
