Yeah I don't think it's by much, but I can't find concrete numbers anywhere.

Looks fantastic. These haunted house movies of the last couple of years have hit just the right chord with me. I find them much scarier than slasher flicks or monster movies.

Thanks to that kid I kept expecting Iron Man to show up. "Houses are haunted sometimes, kid. No need to be a pussy about it."

The color palette here looks straight out of an Argento film.

Crazy that Wan has trailers out for 2 films, both haunted house movies, with Patrick Wilson.

Good call on the Argento asthetics.

All this great horror Wan has been pumping out makes me sad he's going to do Fast & Furious 7.

Re: Insidious 2 (Dir: James Wan) - TBD 2013

I loved the first one. I'm guessing I'll like the sequel, but can't imagine it reaching the same heights. IMO, the first hour of the original might be the most unsettling portrayal of a haunted house ever put on film. Little Boy Blue facing the wall in the laundry room then dancing to Tiny Tim creeped me out about as much as anything I've seen. With the cat out of the bag on what's going on, I can't see how the sequel will maintain the same air of confusing terror that the first one had going for it. I'll be glad if I'm wrong though.

I meant to post this a few days ago but wanted to say that some of the AMCs out here are doing a "Red Door Double Feature" of both movies.

Cinemark is doing a double feature as well.

Never saw the first one though I heard some good stuff. LOVED The Conjuring. So I'm doing this double feature thing for Insidious.

Holy fuck. Insidious 1 was fucking awesome. I'm waiting for 2 to start. Wow. LOVED 1. That shit was creepy.

I hope this one is as good as the previous one.

I can easily say that Insidious is a better film than The Conjuring though that one had a better script, I think.

Oh, shit. 2 is starting.

Alright. 2 was good in a different way. It's tone is a bit different. I liked it a lot to its focus on some of the side characters but it is weaker than 1. I'll explain later. Tired and I had to work in 2 hours.

Really liked Insidious so I'm thinking of seeing this one tomorrow. I've heard that Insidious: Chapter Two is a good film but not as creepy as the first one is and is more focused on story/characters. Guess we'll have to find out.

currently at 42% on RT - looks like Wan might have dropped the ball on this one. granted, the first one ended up only at 66% so who knows. guess i'll have to find out sometime soon.

Re: Insidious 2 (Dir: James Wan) - TBD 2013

I hadn't seen the first one and I went to the double feature. LOVED both of them. I'll be there for chapter 3.

Questions:
Spoiler:

In the first one when Josh is looking for Dalton and finds him in the further and Saw is chasing them, why does he stop chasing them??? He's right there and then they're able to outrun him. Why didn't he keep attacking?

What was the significance of the tooth?

Some random thoughts:
Spoiler:

That baby would.... not..... stop.... crying. Was starting to drive nuts Then again if ghosts are constantly whispering in your ear, yelling at you, and slapping you I may be crying a bit too, so I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt.

The erasing of the memory was a little hoakie, the whole setting him free by erasing his mother from his mind.

Most of the negative reviews I read were written in such a way that made me think the reviewers didn't like the first one, or never saw it, and they were just doing this one because they had to. I have no problems with that, but since I *did* like the first one they're not exactly reliable sources for critiquing the quality of the sequel.

1.
Spoiler:
Saw?

2.
Spoiler:
his body was falling apart. That's why he looked like shot near the end and the teeth were falling out.

Oh, I totally agree about the baby. A bit too much on that kid's part.
