You can't really count CF2 against him since it was taken out of his hands and reworked. He's disowned it.

I still need to see The Roost & Trigger Man, but I adore House Of The Devil & The Innkeepers.

I'm still waiting to see if Lance Hammer will ever release another film.

But, from the poll, Refn is the more mature and "better" director, with Neill Blommkampp being the more "exciting" director... We'll see what he does next.

Re: Jones, Refn, or Blomkamp?

Refn for me. I respect the fact that Jones is taking Sci-fi back to introspective scifi and liked Moon and Source Code to an extent, but I didn't find either particularly brilliant or memorable. I didn't like District 9 so Blomkamp is out.

Refn works extensively on the atmosphere of his movies, and that's something I've always really liked.

Dang it people, you're killing me about Refn. As I posted before, I included him because he's new to US audiences and relatively young (I consider 41 to be young for a director)

Re: Jones, Refn, or Blomkamp?

News on Jones' next project called Mute:

Jones said that he would be doing "another science fiction film, called Mute, which takes place in a future Berlin. It's a Blade Runner-inspired piece, a little love letter to that film." The premise is that in future Berlin, a woman's disappearance causes a mystery for her partner, a mute bartender. He must go up against the city’s gangsters to solve the mystery. The film takes place in the same timeline as Jones' Moon, and will feature Sam Rockwell in a cameo as his character Sam Bell.

Agreed.

Refn will go down in history. He's a gigantic talent.

You're not giving US audiences enough credit. A lot of people have seen his other movies. He's not a rookie.

And he's 41!

I hated District 9, so Blomkamp is out. I voted for Duncan Jones because of how much i loved Moon, but Refn and Drive was also fantastic.

Find me one person in the midwest, who doesn't spend their free time on movie message boards, who has seen Valhalla Rising.

... and go.

Affleck is a good option as well.

Re: Jones, Refn, or Blomkamp?

Out of those three, Refn would get my vote. I've seen five of his movies and I enjoyed all of them. The other two, I've only seen one movie but both were excellent.

1 excellent movie + 4 good movies > 2 excellent movies

Poll is a joke because of the inclusion of Refn.

Fuck off, I can include whoever I want in MY poll.

Valhalla Rising is on Netflix Instant, so I would assume a fair amount of people have seen it.

Are some of you kidding me? Do you seriously think a large amount of people have seen that movie? I haven't, and I actually frequent movie forums! I've heard how "great" it is numerous times. Just haven
t gotten around to watching it.

No normal person has seen that movie. If you think they have, you're living in a world of delusion.

You are a very special boy.

Anyway, my vote goes to Refn. If he's excluded, then I'll go for J.J. Abrahms.

I reviewed the scores, and it turns out you actually won that one.

How do you pronounce the mature, 41-year-old, ten-films-to-his-credit Refn?

I'm assuming "reffin'," but then I'm the guy who thought Ralph Fiennes was pronounced the way it's spelled. (Wrong! It's pronounced "Rafe Fines.")
