I'd say I'm glad it didn't happen, but looking at the casting and shooting quality of the trailers for this one and yeah, we lost both ways.

What's sad is that Bale is the reason I was interested in Salvation and yet that may have been one of his worst performances ever. He yelled almost every line, looked confused most of the time (as if he wasn't sure what movie he was shooting), and kept doing his softened version of his Batman growl for some mysterious reason.

I actually like Salvation. To me its biggest problem has always been how different and out of place it seems as a single film in the franchise. I would have liked to have seen the two planned sequels but they'll never happen.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't hate Salvation and would have loved to see the two planned sequels. But the production problems are evident on screen.

Heck, even the BD release was screwed up. McG promised an hour of extra footage (including the excised footage of Terry Crews who appears as a corpse in the theatrical cut) in the director's cut and instead we got about 2 minutes of additional footage.

Yeah I'm not trying to say it's a great movie, but I don't hate it like most do. There are definitely some issues with it but all in all for what it is I don't mind it.

Also on a different topic I still need to watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles some time. I've heard it's decent but just haven't gotten to it.

I loved The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Yes, there was a misstep in season two with a pointless UFO subplot that takes up far too many episodes, but overall the series is an interesting take on events post-T2 (the makers of the series went on record that T3 and TS are not in canon with TSCC) and ends on one heck of a mindfuck cliffhanger. I recall the actor who played John Connor mentioning there was interest in making a few DTV movies that would resolve said cliffhanger and give a proper conclusion to the series. Sadly, that never happened.

Yeah the first half of season 2 of TSCC just dragged with the UFO stuff but it really picked up after the Winter break I think it was.

I just wish we'd get the T2.5 3D interactive footage Cameron shot for the Universal attraction. It is... "super"

Sarah Conner Chronicles was great. It's the true continuation of T2 in my personal head canon. Although I'd really like to know what they were planning to do with the unresolved cliffhanger.

Just came back from a screening, not good, not good at all. The timeline is so meted up its confusing. Dialog in lots of places is cheesy and some long gaps between action. In the end I was just lost following the plot and timeline.

Honestly this is more or less what I expect and I think partially the reason why it's getting shit on is that people are trying to take it too seriously. People can't have fun with movies like this anymore.

I actually think Star Wars is one of the few franchises where the fans still demand a great movie, whereas the other franchises they expect an inferior movie.

Now in saying that, Star Wars fan will still see the movie even if it gets less then glowing reviews so they will get suckered in either way. Everyone I know who is a Star Wars fan is saying, "The Force Awakens better be as good as the Original movies." Where my friends that are seeing Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys or even Ted 2 are saying, "I know they aren't going to be as great as the originals, but I'll still see them."

What started out as a violent sci-fi noir has now become a family friendly comic book action movie. Not surprised at all.

With a good script, a good director can produce a masterpiece.
With the same script, a mediocre director can produce a passable film.
But with a bad script even a good director can’t possibly make a good film.

Ouch :

TERMINATOR GENISYS Review: Avoid This Movie If You Want To Live

The low point in the TERMINATOR franchise, and franchise filmmaking in general.

Chris Stuckmann reviews Terminator: Genisys (spoiler free)

A lot of the mixed reviews (like Stuckmann's) seem to not think it's a bad film necessarily just that more was expected of the film. Which is understandable to an extent but I think it's been evident for quite a while what this film was going to be like. I'm guessing most of the general audience will like it well enough and I don't think this film was meant to be taken over seriously like some reviewers wanted it to be. The alternate timeline seems to be bothering a lot of reviewers too.
