The rights to Terminator go back to James Cameron in 2019 under some new copyright law. But, by then he will probably be retired from making movies.

Ever since Titanic, he's descended so far into self-indulgence that I don't know if he can drag himself out. His early lean, violent, pulpy B-movie roots have really started clashing with his preachy messages and increasing bloat and excess. And his Lucasing of his own films hasn't endeared me to him lately. He'll probably still be working on some Avatar stuff in 2019 anyway, he's going to ride that gravy train until he's squeezed the last cent out of it.

Super, now we can blame Jai for ruining two beloved franchises - although, in his defense, the Terminator brand is already kind of on life support.

Heh - they should go back to Harlan Ellison.

You know really as much as part of me wants to see what Cameron would do with the Termintor franchise in this day and age you're probably right. He does seem to buy into his own hype a lot now days and I don't know what he would give us. Maybe it's for the best if he doesn't have much to do with the franchise anymore.

I don't blame him for what went wrong with Die Hard, he wasn't great in it, but it was so poorly written and directed that his performance was the least of its problems.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (2015, D: Taylor) S: Clarke, Clarke, Courtney

more news from TheArnoldFans website:

TheArnoldFans.com: You start filming the new Terminator movie next month. Can you give us a tease of what to expect? Will your Terminator model be the same?

Schwarzenegger:
"The Terminator. You're right. We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I'm really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn't be in that movie but now I'm back again and they are very excited about having me in the film. And David Ellison, who has produced all the big movies lately, has plenty of money to do it well. He's in partnership with Paramount Pictures who are going to release the movie through their distribution. I'm really looking forward to that and it's going to come out on July 4th weekend in 2015. The movie preparation is going well. The script is fantastic so I'm really looking forward to this film."

Some plot details: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/03/...minator-movie/

I don't know... sounds horribly convoluted.

I don't want to see them gloss it up.

That's something about Cameron. He generally just got the camera in there for coverage. And then relied on the action and intrigue of the (mostly sci-fi) details.

I dunno actually if it's done well that actually sounds pretty damn cool to me.

Spoiler:
I like the idea of taking a page from Back to the Future Part II and using time travel to revisit events from the first two films and maybe having them play out alternatively. Seems like a cool idea to me.

It should be fun to see them reenact scenes from previous movies.

Do we have any recent pics of Arnold, did he get back in shape for this role?

They picked the wrong GoT actress to play Sarah Conner. Do they remember Lena Headey played a fine one on tv?

Arnold is currently on a promotional tour for Sabotage. This was taken yesterday.

Tough saying from that picture. Obviously he won't be in prime shape but I wonder if they'll find a way to work around that or use old footage/CGI for some of the aspects of the film they're going for.

I think he looks pretty damn good for an 80 year old man.

This is what Arnold looked like 11 years ago when he last played the Terminator.

He'll need some makeup, CG and hair plugs to get back to that look.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (2015, D: Taylor) S: Clarke, Clarke, Courtney

Factoring in that Arnold is sixty-seven I don't think he looks that bad. He's obviously past his prime but I think he can get in somewhat decent shape by the time this is out. He looked decent in The Escape Plan and looks to be in better shape for the upcoming Sabotage. Just needs some hair plugs as was mentioned and probably a bit of CGI and he should look okay.
