JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME (2012) (dir. Duplass Brothers) (Jason Segel, Ed Helms)

Dispatched from his basement room on an errand for his mother, slacker Jeff might discover his destiny (finally) when he spends the day with his brother as he tracks his possibly adulterous wife.

Not really a big fan of Helms but I like Segel enough. Looking forward to the trailer.

Count me in. I really like Jason Segel and I've enjoyed everything the Duplass Brothers have put out thus far.

Just caught this trailer on another site. This looks like it could be very, very good.

This is a nice little indie dramedy. Very simple plot. A well directed and well acted film. If you like films like "Everything Must Go", "Cyrus" (also by the Duplass Brothers), "Cedar Rapids", and "Garden State" then you'll like this.

Saw an advance screening of this and it was great. I didn't like the snap zooms that the camera kept doing, but that was really my only complaint. Very enjoyable movie with some great laughs throughout.

That's a signature style of filming of the Duplass Brothers. They use it in all their other films. Why?

I really enjoyed this, didn't know anything about it (but I had bought the Beck single before hand and heard it like 50 times), but I was in because of the two leads. Had no idea Rae Dawn Chong would be in this...that's a pretty big surprise. Although I've only ever seen her in Commando.

Re: JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME (2012) (dir. Duplass Brothers) (Jason Segel, Ed Helms)

Ordered this on demand with my gf the other night. I really had no clue what to expect, but the principals were enough to get me interested.

We ended up really liking it. My chick especially, since she buys into Jeff's ideas about destiny and things happening for a reason. I liked that this was a simple, self-contained story that took place over the course of a day with characters who felt real. The camera shots and zooms gave it the appearance of being a feature-length sketch. Segel has a knack for playing these cool, collected characters that feel very grounded.

I agree with an earlier comparison to "Everything Must Go", mostly just in tone rather than plot, though.

I found the whole subplot with Susan Surandon really weird.

It is, but I kind of figured early on who it was that sent her the IMs. Bumer we didn't get to see her infamous cleavage.

Saw this earlier in the month. Along with Safety Not Guaranteed (which they produced), the Duplass brothers have two solid comedies under their belt this year.
