What Carpenter movie would you qualify as noir-ish?

None. My punctuation was off. KTS is noir-ish but also looks like a JC film. Extreme widescreen and lots of those shots that linger and show you lots of information. Plenty of long tracking shots, vistas, etc…

EDIT - maybe Assault on Precinct 13 could be considered his most "noir-ish" film. KTS had that same sort of pace, imo.

I've read that Assault has a noir thing going for it. Haven't seen that one in a long time but maybe it does.

To me this film reminded me of 70's Scorsese, Friedkin & Pakula with a bit of Jean-Pierre Melville & David Mamet. IMO the underrated Andrew Dominik is 3 for 3.

Just finished watching this and thought it was fantastic. Best recent movie I've seen in quite a while actually. Loved its style and direction especially. Pitt's closing words book-ended the movie perfectly. Only thing it was missing was some shared screen time with Gandolfini and Vincent Curatola (aka Johnny Sack).

Finally got to see this thing. Damn good film. Nice pace to it and great world w/ damn nice visuals to it. Not a thing that irked me about it. A genre film w/ some well executed style to it.

I've yet to see Chopper but Domick got my interest immediately w/ The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. FUCK. That movie, man.

Chopper is some good shit with an amazing performance from Eric Bana. If you see the extras when they interview the real Chopper, Eric Bana nails it.

But alas it never did. I am stunned no one in real life took him out. I guess it just got under my skin which means it was actually a good film but it just irritated the fuck out of me. Like a itch you can't scratch is the best way I can put it. Bana is amazing in it.

I am pissed right now writing this...I really wanted they guy to die in the movie.

Lol. The guy was such a piece of shit that you wished for him to be dead. One of those guys, eh? I honestly know nothing about it aside from it being based on a real guy and Bana was apparently amazing in it.

I felt bad for Ray Liotta in this one...
