Re: James Bond 23 - News, Rumors, Cast, Etc.
They would own all of what MGM owned, I think Sony would still have the distribution rights to Casino Royale though, since they were involved in the production.
Something like that.

I'm fine with however long it takes for them to make a new one just as long as they replace Craig. Horrible, horrible Bond.

Yeah, I'm fine with however long it takes as long as it's Casino Royale-quality and not a Quantum of Solace-crap fest. Craig is a fantastic Bond though.

I also agree with you, I was completely entertained with Quantum, and I liked that it was a direct lead up sequel to Casino. These recent two movies are the most I have ever been entertained with bond films in a while. I thought goldeneye was great, but the next three kind of lost my interest with its one liners, bad acting or plots, although I do not blame Pierce for this. I do blame Halle Berry and Denise Richards: Its complicated.

And to answer the Brazilian Job question up above, the answer is probably never. There are no plans whatsoever to make the film. There is no script, there is no talent, there is nothing in development. Zilch. It only exists right now as an out-of-date IMDB listing.

The only problem I have with the new Bond series is the title songs are not good. And the actor who plays Bond isn't handsom enough. I'll still take these movies over DIE ANOTHER DAY.

Lionsgate entire profit model is "Buy low, sell high." They either put very little money into the movies they fund, or do pickups at low prices, and then when the movies make $30 million they've already made profit. And I sincerely hope they do not get MGM.

Well he is a version of bond that looks like he can take and give a beating. So I am happy with him, much more than I thought I would be. Also for some reason, I really like the Jack White and Alicia Keys song in Quantum, and I would say it is the only one that I have liked and enjoyed in a long time.

Great, because we all saw how well a director known for their dramatic work turned out with Quantum of Solace.

Well... after 'American Beauty' I'm no great fan of Mendes in general.
But he pulled off 'Road to Perdition' in spades. I really like that film. While it's no action movie, he certainly knew how to handle a film that dealt with some non-cartoonish action/violence in it. That's the main difference I see in the Craig Bond movies, that brought me back to the series. Bond films handled in a serious way where violence is not a joke.
So he could be up to the task I suppose. I certainly think he could best 'Solace'.

Well, whatever the new installment(s), I would think it would go back towards a thinking movie with slow, but deliberate action (much like RtP was). Not over the top violence, but necessary violence. QoS was a pure revenge film. And now that a good measure of revenge has happened for Bond at least, it's on to find out who and what Quantum is. This is still a growth movie for the new Craig Bond character. There wasn't anything suave or debonair in Casino Royale, but a general cockiness. We should see the progression of a smoother, more sophisticated Bond.

I personally think they should just give Martin Campbell as many Bond films as he could want, actually...has Campbell ever said anything about not directing the sequels considering he's a success at Bond? I mean...he sure as hell is good at reintroducing Bond. Let's see him develop a Bond further.

I hope he hires an assistant director who can handle the action scenes. Christopher Nolan, another director known primarily for dramas, did a great job overall in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but the action scenes were meh to decent.

I say get a good director first and foremost. Sam is a very good director and Perdition was a near-great movie with some action in it. He also is familiar with Daniel Craig, so that's a plus. I think he's smart enough to not make this into Revolution Road 2.
I wonder if they'll now cast Kate Winslet as young M in flashback scenes (*obscure joke warning*)

Didn't Mendes film decent action in ROAD TO PERDITION and JARHEAD (never saw this film, I hear they were just sitting around anyway)?
As long as he holds the camera steady, I'm happy!

Bond GaGirl

BOND films spawn some colourful characters - Baron Samedi, Nick Nack, Jaws, Oddjob, Blofeld and Scaramanga.
But none can match the latest crackpot to be linked with the movie franchise - LADY GAGA.
The bonkers singer may be getting a licence to thrill Bond fans by writing and singing the film's next theme tune. And who better?
She wears a hamster wheel as armour, carries a potentially lethal tea cup and is never without a roll of industrial strength gaffer tape.
Her name even fits seamlessly in the long list of outrageous Bond Girls - Kitty Stroker, Plenty O'Toole, Mary Goodnight, Xenia Onatopp, Honey Rider and Pussy Galore.
GaGa also happens to be perfectly qualified for the gig, given that she is one of the best pop stars on the planet.
She would be near the top, if not top, of my wish-list if I were a Bond bigwig.
A source said: "Bond bosses are all huge GaGa fans. Her sound and sense of drama make her the top choice.
GaGa has the look as well as the voice to tackle a thundering ballad. She's a great songwriter too. This is perfect on every level."
The decision to ask GaGa to submit a song was made at a recent project meeting.
I was wary because it feels like every time a Bond film comes around, a flurry of names are linked with the gig.
AMY WINEHOUSE was in contention for Quantum Of Solace but threw her chance away in a summer of drunken madness.
If she gets her act together she could be given another chance.
Crooner MICHAEL BUBLE is also in the frame to submit a demo this time. The best effort will get the gig.
There is time for months of negotiation because filming has been put back - partly due to the recession and partly to make the film 3D.
Until a title is decided the movie, starring DANIEL CRAIG, is being referred to as Bond 23.
The last theme, Another Way To Die, was penned by WHITE STRIPES guitarist JACK WHITE and sung by ALICIA KEYS.
It reached just No9 in the UK charts and was blasted by some fans as the worst ever theme.
GaGa's idol MADONNA has done the Bond job too, so I guarantee this is one offer she would love.
I'm sure it will be a SMERSH hit.

Or they could dust off Pulp's rejected Bone theme.
