I prefer the actor to do their own thing. Full-on imitations in biopics usually feel like a petty choice.

They probably tried but on Fassbender it would look goofy. He really doesn't look anything whatsoever like Steve Jobs so that kind of detracts a little. But it's Fassbender so that's also a positive. Like what Troy said, a movie telling its own story instead of trying to do an imitation is usually better in my opinion.

As do I. It's just weird, to a point, when an actor plays a character that they don't seem to fit so well into, visually.

I'm sure the flick will be good. Still sad to see Fincher leave it. THAT would have been very cool.

For a second there I thought the collapsing framing was going to end up as one of those damn vertical videos.

Not sure what there is to get excited about. You could cut the same trailer from the Kutcher version.

Except this one showed Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet. The words in the trailer read, "From Director Danny Boyle and Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin"

no interest. Trailer looks terrible. It is Fassbender, but I don't find Jobs to be very interesting, and his life has been done before. Cast should be used for something better.

Terrible title. You sound like a jack-off just saying it.

"What are you going to see this weekend?"
"Steve Jobs"

Could turn into the world's worst Who's on First.

Sorkin is a great screenwriter, but Boyle is a shitty director who routinely mishandles scripts, so I worry.

Except this time they hired an actual actor this time around. A very good one to boot.

Based off the trailer, I can't really get much of anything aside that this Steve Jobs bloke may be of some importance.

I don't know how it can be a terrible trailer.

Could be great, could be dull and boring. Rogen as Wozniak is great casting.

As much as I loved the script, that trailer didn't do much for me. This is a tough sell in trailer form, the movie is heavy on dialogue and interiors.

I found it a bit odd how the grain (or noise?) structure changed so much throughout the trailer. I checked IMDB and it claims that the film uses both 16mm and 35mm. It looks like he shot the early parts of the timeline in grainy 16mm while the more recent parts are 35mm.

I thought it was only supposed to be in few locations? I guess that format wasn't what they went with.

Yea. I think that three scenes was Sorkin's original concept. I guess that didn't work out.

The film takes places over the course of three events:

1. The launch of the original Macintosh.
2. The launch of NeXT.
3. The launch of the iPod.

I would assume there's "flashbacks" to events in-between, but its clearly obvious based upon the trailer that there are three primary locations the film takes place in.

Script Spoiler

Spoiler:
Yes, the movie is mostly confined to the three events, but during each event there are occasional flashbacks to events that are relative to the topic being discussed. Some of these flashbacks are a few pages, some are just a quick shot or two. The focus remains on the "current" timeline.

Fassbender is SO wrong for this part. I really like Sorkin so I'm hoping this somehow works, bad casting aside. That trailer was far from impressive.

I don't think Danny Boyle is right for a dialogue driven movie, he's always been about that flash.

Yeah, his insanely hyperactive tics can get a little much sometimes.
