1.) Moneyball 2.) Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2 3.) Rise of the Planet of the Apes 4.) Super 8 5.) X-Men: First Class Honorable mentions: Crazy, Stupid, Love.; Thor; and Captain America I'm assuming after today, The Muppets might make it somewhere into this list. :) Having just seen THE MUPPETS, they slide easily into my #3 spot. Great fun! |
Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
Drive
Super 8 Rise of the Planet of the Apes X-Men: First Class ... that's all I'd care to put on a best-of list. I saw other films that I enjoyed (Cpt. America, Thor) but I wouldn't put them on a "year's best" list. I'm hoping to add A Dangerous Method and Shame if I can catch both next month. |
Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
1. The Tree of Life
2. Drive 3. We Need to Talk About Kevin 4. Take Shelter 5. Martha Marcy May Marlene 6. Project Nim 7. The Descendants 8. Moneyball 9. Melancholia 10. The Artist I still want to see: Shame |
Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
What have you guys been watching? I watched almost no big hollywood production movies this year, because most of them were utter crap. I also skipped out on almost every single big summer movie.
Martha Marcy May Marlene Tree of Life Moneyball Hesher Beginners Incendies Into the Abyss Circumstance - best movie of the year, IMO. But I like romances. Best documentaries: My Perestroika The Interrupters That's all I can think of right now. |

Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
Didn't watch many new films this year but out of the ones I've seen:
I Saw The Devil Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows (Part 2) |
Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
Yup, so far since there is so much to see, but I've managed to watch 100 2011 movies so far. Weak year in my opinion (again, so far).
1. 50/50 2. The Muppets 3. Drive 4. Rise of the Planet of the Apes 5. I Saw the Devil 6. X-Men First Class 7. Insidious 8. Attack the Block 9. Super 8 10. The Woman Honorable mentions would be Thor, The Guard, Rango, Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, Margin Call. But nothing has hit 4 stars to me. Hopefully December and some catching up will change that. A lot of Melancholia and Tree of Life, but I was lukewarm on both. And that was with me going in to both thinking I'd really like them. |

Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
The Muppets would make my list now as well. I might as well bump off Cars 2... and now that I'm thinking about it I'd probably want to fit in The Help somewhere.

Has no one seen Win Win or Another Earth this year? They're both locks for top 10 lists.

Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
I don't get the love for Source Code. While I liked the idea that ending was lame from what i remember. Duncan Jones is a promising director but the whole 6th Sense ending has been used in two of his movies already.

Re: Your Top 10 of 2011 (so far)
I didn't LOVE any film this year. I liked:
The Rise of the Planet of the Apes Super Outrage X-Men First Class Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Devils Double Thor Captain America I haven't seen Hugo, Tin Tin, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy or the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I assume that last one I will love considering Fincher is my favorite working director. |
