Everyone says this one is awful and if you want to see the superior film that deals in a similar tone and theme to watch Attack the Block instead.

"Attack the Block" was terrible and I couldn't finish it. Saw "The Watch" yesterday and it was ok, nothing special, but at least I was entertained and finished it

The trailers for this looked a lot like Attack the Block, not a surprising comparison, I also didn't care for AtB. This looked like it had some entertainment potential, seems like it's just kind of alright in that category. Will wait for a rental.

Wow lots of hate for Attack the Block. I actually liked it quite a bit.

Did those of you who hated ATB hate it cuz of the way the kids spoke or do you just hate different environments that you just don't personally prefer to see a film in?

I thought Attack the Block was great. On the other hand, I thought this film was a real piece of shit. Easily one of the worst films this year; almost as bad as The Devil Inside. There's no real story, rhyme or reason present. Honestly, it feels as it's a 106-minute vehicle for Stiller, Vaughn and Hill to do terrible improv while the actual story exists as a footnote. I expected a lot more with Schaffer behind the camera (plus the added benefit of a decent Lonely Island cameo) and the talent on screen.
The only line I chuckled at (that wasn't already present in the marketing material) was Vince Vaughn's line, "Doo-wop groups close ass. Singing is their part time job, closing ass is their full time job."

Saw this today with a free movie ticket that I earned from Regal Theatres.
Honestly, it wasn't really funny. Maybe I chuckled mildly a few times, but in the end all the attempts at humor were quite lame. The most amusing scene with the guys was when they were taking photos of the Alien who was knocked out.
The Alien effects weren't bad though for maybe a B movie.
I think it suffered from not really having a focused plot was more of a mesh of ideas thrown together.
Also, I think it was lame for FOX to cut the trailer and focus heavily on the scene where Stiller and Vaughn kept shooting the Alien. Lame scene, but the trailer spoiled it too.
I would recommend this as a rental only if your a fan of Stiller or Vaughn.
