Exactly. As much as I love Leone, I don't want Tarantino to make a Leone flick, I want him to make a Tarantino flick. And it looks like that's what we're going to get.

The trailer is all we have, its not like the movie is out yet to be judged. And yes I know the script is out there considering half the posts in this thread are people making sure everyone knows they read the script and how cool they are because of it. Personally though, I don't understand wanting to read the script before seeing the movie. It would ruin the experience for me knowing what's going to happen already.

The trailer was typical Tarantino. What were people expecting?

I'm sort of worrying what this film is going to be like without Sally Menke.

Not only did Fred Raskin edit the last few The Fast & The Furious pics, which were well-assembled action pictures, but he was Sally's assistant editor on the Kill Bill flicks. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Feels like Tarantino is just applying a template to his movies.
The same kinda thing as always just done in a different setting.

Yeah Picasso pulled the same shit with his cubist thing.

And Faulkner with his Mississippi thing. Same old horseshit every time out.

And yet nobody ever calls Pixar out for it.

One of the reasons I havent watched the last 4 or 5 Pixar films.

I sent the trailer link to a few people, and every one of them basically stated that it was the same film he's done but in a western setting.

So according to at least "a few people," a trailer is the same as a film. And the Deep South is located in the west.

I'm telling you what I thought based on the trailer, and that my thoughts were mirrored by the 8 people I sent it to.

It seems like a Tarantino template. Hey, if it works to sell tickets - can't really blame him.

Don't worry, it'll be OK. Take a deep breath.

As much as we KNOW QT is a Leone whore, let's not forget that the man also loved Peckinpah. I get a Peckinpah look from some of the shots. Not the action in them as so much the set up of the players and a bit of the color palette.

Jungle Fever? I actually think Sam Jackson has range in him and await the role where he's just someone meek, quiet and/or pathetic. He's shown some of that in stuff like Unbreakable and 187 but then everyone wants him to yell at someone. Maybe Django Unchained is it? I don't know.

Although superficially it looks like the same ol' hat from Jackson, his performance in Black Snake Moan is actually very nuanced.
