I saw this one earlier tonight. I liked it quite a bit. Elijah Wood is creepy as hell and there were some moments that really made me cringe.

I'm waiting for a third Ed to chime in and say he thought it was OK.
I'll check it out when it opens near me. I'm curious enough.

It's funny, I hadn't heard that much about it, apparently it was pretty infamous back in the day.
Kermode scalded this, apparently it's out in the UK.

Nice review Seth. I haven't watched it yet, but do like what I'm seeing (and hearing) from the preview clip and soundtrack samples.

I never saw the original, so I have nothing to compare it to, but as a standalone horror film it did its job. Some of it was incredibly creepy and Elijah Wood is very convincing. Overall entertaining and a recommended viewing.

This was such a pale imitation of Lustig's original that it bordered on laughable.
I'm sorry, Wood is a good actor but I just could not buy him as Frank for a second.
I did like the POV shots, which, while a tad overused, added a nice element to the typical guy-chases-girl scenes.
Wow, this version of L.A. sure is desolate... Do these people exist in a vacuum?
Is it really that easy to scalp someone? Seemed like even Elijah's weak ass could pull one off after a simple cut above the forehead.
Great gore. KNB really did a gruesome job here. Some of the kills were disturbingly realistic. But nothing comes close to Savini's classic work.
Rob's score (who just goes by "Rob" anyway?) was a creepy synth nightmare. I may have to grab a vinyl copy from Death Waltz.
The ending was, again, a poor & pale imitation of the original. After watching it, I just wondered what the point was of even making the film. It's a soulless remake that added nothing to the existing mythology.
Spinell for life.

Saw this last night and it was not bad but it does not even come close to the original due to the glossy settings and characters.
Can't capture the grit and grime that was Joe Spinell and NYC in the 70's.
