They could still do it as a remake, using the referenced Icarus as a starting point for a film that still employs the space time travel stuff, but this time the audience already knows it's Earth so the film isn't hampered by having to rely on a big reveal later on. We just get to watch astronauts freak the fuck out while hordes of apes assault them.

I attended a screening of the original POTA over the summer, and the guy in front of me brought his grandchildren. They were very well-behaved, but when we got to that famous final shot, they actually gasped and exclaimed with surprise. It was kind of cool, I thought there wasn't anyone left who didn't know, especially since it's plastered over the damn DVD cover now, it was fun to see someone discovering it for the first time.

And oh, are those Red Rangers in your avatar pc?

I go back to the ORIGINAL "Go Rangers" from the 70's.

They make a cameo in the POTA sequel?

Interesting clips from the panel. It shows confrontations between survivors of the virus and the apes and how they deal with coexistence.
Last clip was really interesting.

Oooooh.
Yeah. I'm more excited for this one based on the director but deep down I'm really going for Serkis. I'm very interested in how the MoCap has progressed.

He's amazing, no doubt, anyone who doubts the validity of the art for after watching him, well, I just don't know what to say. He's an amazing performer.

Very true. He may have been thrown into it but he sure as hell took rein of it and didn't hold back on acting. Easily the best actor doing it. And it's even more exciting that he got versed in the technology in it instead of just being a prop for it. The man has evolved with it.

The first one was a nice surprise hit with $171 mil US and was one of the better received blockbusters of the Summer. I think this one will be a huge hit especially given the release date. It arrives on July 11 and pretty much has no competition that entire month. I think Jupiter Ascending and Hercules are both going to bomb hard. I expect Apes to clear at least $250 mil here and more than double that overseas.

This one looks better and has a better director in it. I liked the one before it but holy fuck was that one cliche as hell. Still enjoyed it though... Just needed a much tighter script.

I've heard that it's about a third of the way through the movie before any humans appear. If so, I like the approach they're taking. I wonder if they'll get subtitles for Caesar? He's sounding kind of Bane like.

So...... What? We get Ape culture & politics and then the bs that man brings with them?
