10-4. I don't pirate movies, so I misunderstood. It doesn't change the fact that there's no need to derail on-topic commentary about a film in the appropriate thread for said commentary by making accusations about the poster.

Agreed, just stating what I think he meant. Either way, I enjoyed the movie and will probably give it a second viewing soon.

Of course not; I agree with your apt observation that everyone should feel free to pirate their movies in peace.

I was just making an observation. You're the one who started cursing and throwing epithets around. Perhaps you should take some of your own advice and contribute to the discussion instead of simply berating me over your misunderstanding.

Then perhaps you could share what value post #110 brought to the discussion? Other than more of your typical shtick, that is.

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

WTF happened here...all this from me bumping a thread from a few months ago. Guess I'm the only one would can wait a bit to see most movies for $2, instead of $12 when they release.

Dragon; FYI, I plan on seeing John Carter in the same theater next weekend. You're welcome to say I'm pirating that one too if/when I comment in its thread...

Hey Noonan, which theatre did you go to? Is it Cinema Holdings East Providence?

I'm on the lookout for cheap movies in my area, too.

The blu-ray rip of John Carter won't have hit the torrent sites the day before you post your comment, so it that would be utterly ridiculous to say that.

Nice attempt there, though.

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

Mod Note: How about we all chill out? Even if someone did pirate the movie, as long as they aren't mentioning it here, there's no reason to draw attention to it. As far as I'm concerned, we should just assume that everyone here sees movies legitimately. If they say something to the contrary, that's a different story.

I dug the shit out of this movie....It was very entertaining and I loved how dark it was. The flying was excellent...was actually really impressed with it.

The last half hour was excellent. Can't wait to watch it again.

The wife and I loved it too. The first thing that came to mind was the anime film "Akira".

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

finally saw this film.

i really really enjoyed it. Took the standard plot of young guys getting powers and whatnot..and made it more real. I really really enjoyed that. Very surprising movie in it's execution. Very minor flaws but solid. Well paced and formed. I just loved what they did w/ the emotions. They felt real while also being in the generic skeleton of the plot. They did breath some life into it.

I'd like to know how they made it for sure. Even with the effects being a bit weak...it sells really well. They had impact. They weren't overly flashy..they had purpose and effect. And it worked.

I'll get the BD one day and I do also await a sequel if it's done w/ as much passion as they had for this one. Passion, man. They had it for this film and it can be felt. Way to go, guys.

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

I just finished watching this and enjoyed it. Going into these types of movies I assume the worst, but the shaky cam wasn't as bad as it could've been.

The biggest nitpick I have is common to most found footage movies that use different "sources": who the heck edited it all together (and why)? But that only took me out of it at the very end.

Just saw this last night, and I enjoyed it. Although I agree,

Spoiler:

Steve was the best character, why'd he have to go so soon!

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

Much better than I thought it would be, one of the best found-footage movies I've seen. I also liked how they were able to free up all of the characters by having the camera float around the scene with telekinesis.
One problem however is the way the guys reacted with their new powers. They were having fun tossing things around and flying, but other than that, the only thing they really tried was a magic act for the talent show. I'd be inside a bank making bags of money walk out behind me.
Special effects were pretty good too, including a close call with a airplane. You don't think of things like when you wish you could fly.

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

Just watched it on HBO. Thought it was all right. Felt like parts of it were missing. Andrew went from upset about his mom to robbing a bank to trying to destroy a facsimile of Seattle in the span of a night. I know he was a messed up character, but seemed like way to quick to go there.

Plus, why wouldn't he just try and steal the medication? The pharmacist did say he'd have to special order it, yes, but this is a guy who could fly around the world, I think he could manage.

Did like the scenes of discovery though, they were pretty fun.

Oh, and I don't believe there's any super special edition of the DVD/Blu coming out that would warrant my anti-shilling

I think it was just built up rage that sent him insane.

As for the medicine, he didn't know where it would be ordered from probably.

Re: Chronicle (2012) - Found-footage superheros

Like District 9, I thought it was like two-thirds of an interesting story until some studio head walked in and said "Why isn't anything blowing up?" I'm soooooooooo tired of the found footage movie, there was really no reason for this movie to use that gimmick, it would've worked fine as a regular film. Other than that though, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Interesting take on the superhero mythology that's been done from almost every angle. Has a nice melancholia about it, I actually sort of came to care, and that's kudos to the filmmakers, who could've just made it an FX fest. Interesting look at superpowers in the context of a messed up mind. Really liked it.

Sums it up for me perfectly.
