Has he brought it up again? Seems like Prometheus and its similarities to it kind of bummed him out. Good for him though if he's still fighting for it.

I'd love to see it. I still never get far into the book. I always get veered off by something else.

Yeah he brought it up. Especially since Prometheus really wasn't as similar as he feared. If you ever read At The Mountains of Madness, you know the similarities are minute at best.

On the subject of Prometheus, it seems the sequel is dead because they couldn't agree on a script. Dark Horse will publish a comic series as a "sequel" instead.

Well that sucks. I still wanted to see more of what was going to continue in story.

Wonder if GDT would still have Cameron backing him in this next attempt?

That kind of sucks about Prometheus. I didn't think it was a great movie, but I still cared enough to see what happened next. The real kicker is that they apparently chose to end this on the note of presuming a sequel as opposing to answering the questions they posed. In the end, we were left with no more answers than what we got when it started.

Back to PR, I hope the reviews for this are great and it at least gets a few curious people to check it out over Grown Ups 2, though I will say I doubt those of us frothing about this are frothing about the latter as much.

Also, I doubt PR will be able to measure up to classics like this one!

Okay, if After Earth can turn a profit, surely this can do something.

Just got my ticket for Thursday at 7 pm. I saw a lot of showings at 10 pm, is 10 pm the new midnight?

I wake up at 5 am, so the 7 pm showing is great for me. I'm going to the 3D version, XD Cinemark.

A couple of friends and I saw Pacific Rim tonight, and we all loved it. This movie was a complete blast and if any of the trailers/spots interest you you'll like the movie. The theater had it on 3 screens as there were A LOT of people in line. Big applause at the end.

profit is the difference between the purchase and the component costs of delivered goods and/or services and any operating or other expenses.

That article is bunk. He is only subtracting the budget from the total world wide box office.

After Earth most certainly did not make 68 million in "profit"

Great stuff. The voice actor for one of the villains also did the voice for many villains on "Astro Boy."

I have the R3 DVD of SUPER INFRAMAN from Hong Kong, in Mandarin with subs., but this clip makes me want to dig out my English-dubbed VHS copy and re-watch that.

I saw it when it played New York (as INFRAMAN) back in 1979 and I remember a fanboy at Japan Society's Godzilla festival that summer raving about it and calling it the best superhero movie ever. (This was before the internet. This was how word of mouth used to spread.)

Maybe because I saw I saw it first, but I've always found INFRAMAN cooler than Ultraman.

To be honest, I like the Power Rangers better than Ultraman, but then I saw them first also.

^ Is there anyway to see this movie letterboxed? It was produced by the Shaw Bros. which I presume means ShawScope.

One promotional idea that never happened: since the giant robots are called Jaegers, they should have partnered with Jagermeister to give out free shots to the first 100 viewers over 21 on opening night.

I have the Celestial Pictures R3 DVD of SUPER INFRAMAN (in Mandarin with English subs.) and it's letterboxed. I don't know if an R1 edition ever came out.

If Guillermo Del Toro had his way, that's essentially what would happen in a subsequent film. He wants a crossover film.

This poster was reportedly designed by Yoji Shinkawa, character designer of Metal Gear Solid series and mecha designer for Z.O.E series.
