Just back from TMW, wife and I had a great time with it. The funniest scene in the whole movie was the entire paintball sequence - the shot to the crotch was a little anti-climactic considering everything that happened leading up to it. The movie had a kind of True Lies lite vibe going in some spots, especially the parts where they were surveilling each other and the girl. And didn't they use that Beastie Boys song in young Jim kirk's scenes in Star Trek?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, the usage of Sabotage in both movies, pretty cool.

Just got back from seeing this. I really didn't care for it. There were a few parts that were mildly amusing but for the most part, I sat stone-faced while watching it. I guess I'm not really the target audience for stuff like this though. My wife and our friend both really liked it though.

Watched this last night with a group of friends. My wife had a birthday this week so it was her choice. I'm 36, btw. This was a fun movie. We all laughed quite a bit. It's of course cheesy and pretty much absurd, but I enjoyed it more than expected. Reese's married friend character in the movie was really the only part that really annoyed me. She was way over the top. But all in all it was a good date movie.

Saw it today with the wife...it wasn't bad, but it was far from good. One of those movies you'd probably enjoy as a rental...nothing you'd want to see more than once. Chris Pine is very much in James T. Kirk mode in this one...he's easily the most likable of the three leads.

Wife and I, plus another couple went to see the movie Saturday afternoon.

We had a great time at the movie, laughed many (lots, we love laughing at movies or life in general) times, had some good action, some good romance for the wives...

Funny endings to the movie, 2 different ones. One completes a scene from earlier in the movie and one just as the jump out of a plane.

Not an Academy Award winning movie, but it was worth the time/money for an afternoon date.

Wife and I caught the matinee today and we both enjoyed it. No real surprises, but we laughed a lot and enjoyed all of the characters.

Saw this last night on BR and was underwhelmed. It was definitely an OK rental but that was it. Chelsea Handler had some good lines and was the funniest of anything that happened.

On a side note, I know I'm old fashioned but I question Tom hardy's interest after Chris Pine banged Whitherspoon. I mean I realize people have a past, but if the past was two days ago with my best friend I have to say that would kill any interest for me.

It's Tom Hardy, that may have been an added benefit.

Me too. Watched it on the plane last month and found it pretty entertaining.

I didn't hate this nearly as much as Rotten Tomatoes shows, but I wasn't a fan of this either. I'll watch absolutely anything with Tom Hardy in it though, so it was inevitable that I would see this sooner or later.

I didn't hate it, I just thought it was a decent rental, not a keeper

Just watched this with the wife on Netflix yesterday. Way more entertaining than I was led to believe by the critic bashing it received.

I enjoyed it as well. Though the end was predictable, I still feel
Spoiler:
the best man lost.

Agree completely.

Spoiler:
Pine came off as kind of a dick, while Hardy was more of a gentleman. Nice guy finished last! Imagine that!

Also
Spoiler:
Pine fucked Hardy's wife in the past. He lost on all fronts.

Also,

Spoiler:
Hardy's wife was about ten times hotter than Reese. I deem him the winner, even if Capt. Kirk banged her.

Actually,
Spoiler:
the wife came across as a consolation prize from the screenwriters. And she only took an interest in hardy because he was dating Reese. Once Reese was no longer "competition", I bet the wife would have dumped his ass again, even if he was a badass spy.

True, but the way things played out...Hardy gets the hotter woman.

Though I like Reese, the wife was very attractive. Still, the writers couldn't let Hardy even have that victory by revealing that Pine fucked her. It's as if the writers actively wanted to screw over Hardy.

But, as said previously, he was a nice guy. His finishing last was a given.

Re: This Means War (Dir: McG) action comedy w/ Hardy, Pine, and Witherspoon

I just spent 15 minutes watching the opening of this film, not more than an hour ago. Had to bail on it. So poorly directed, and once I had to endure a Chelsea Handler scene, I couldn't take it anymore (her character only grocery shops from the aisle endcaps, apparently...such horrible direction). Shocked to see all the love here for it. I guess it must get better. It has too.

It really doesn't. I'm sure I commented on it last year in this thread, but holy shit it was among the worst of 2012.

I thought it was mildly entertaining, mostly on the strength of Pine and Hardy. But then again I've grown accustomed to watching chick flick type stuff like this with the girlfriend so they don't bother me.
