Which Oscar-nomination would you give ED HARRIS the award for?
1995: Best Supporting Actor (for playing Gene Kranz in Apollo 13, nominated)
1998: Best Supporting Actor (for playing "Christof" in The Truman Show, nominated)
2000: Best Actor (for playing Jackson Pollock in Pollock, nominated)
2002: Best Supporting Actor (for playing "Richard Brown" in The Hours, nominated)
Personally, I'd give it to him for The Truman Show.

I think my favorite performance that he has given was in "The Abyss"...but not gonna win that year (1989) against Daniel Day Lewis. An honorary mention has to be given to his groovy dance in Creepshow. That deserves to win something.

I would give both for The Truman Show, and Pollock. He also should have gotten nominated for History of Violence instead of william hurt

Yeah...still confused about the Hurt nom and win. I wasn't really amazed or astounded by his acting. Seemed...not really special...in the sense to be recognized for it.

Back in 2010, Christoph Waltz deserved the Oscar for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS because it was a truly outstanding performance--delivered in four languages! One of these years, maybe 2012, Michael Fassbender will get an award for a portrayal that stands head-and-shoulder above his already impressive array of performances. The voters will know it when they see it.

I'm not sure about any of those. The winners in 1995 (Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects), 1998 (James Coburn in Affliction) and 2002 (Chris Cooper in Adaptation) all seem pretty deserving. 2000 is another story, but Javier Bardem was also nominated for Before Night Falls and was supposed to be pretty good in that. I haven't seen either BNF or Pollock, so I can't say who should have won.

Apollo 13...Ed was the best thing in a very good film. I don't even LIKE The Truman Show, although he's the best thing about that movie as well.

If someone can post that dance that would be great.

Here's the song in it's entirety: http://youtu.be/4ZWXmx80tmo
Need to see Pollack but I thought he did a very good job in The Truman Show and he should have been nominated for A History of Violence but I do think that Hurt did a great job because of the range that character had from the first moment of seeing Jimmy to the very last.

From his list of nominations, I'd go with The Truman Show.
I didn't expect him to be nominated, but I thought he was excellent in Appaloosa.

Pollock.
Crowe won that year, I thought his performances the year before and the year after were stronger than Gladiator.

Definitely Pollock. I don't get the love for his performance in The Truman Show - I think he's the worst thing about it.

I thought he did a amazing job playing John Glenn in The Right Stuff and should have been nominated.
