That plot sounds absolutely terrible.

I saw this on HDNET last week and it was ok but nobody was really likeable and everybody was high.

I DVR'd this on HDNet Movies and just got around to watching it last night. Boy, this was terrible! Just really, really bad.
And I'm smack in the middle of the target demographic: I'm a male, Gen X, professional who's starting to feel my age and wonder what I could/should have done differently with my life. The movie is about four male, Gen X, professionals who are hitting midlife and regretting some of the decisions they've made. The first 2/3 of the movie is just them all getting drunk and high and acting like they're trying to be college kids again. It's tedious to watch, to say the least. Then the last 1/3 takes a darker turn that I won't spoil, but it isn't interesting because it's so stupid. The acting is mostly fine (the cast is the only draw), but it's wasted on this movie. Carla Gugino (whom I love) is given very little to do. The directing, writing, cinematography, etc, all seem very amateurish. Like some film student's low-budget attempt at a "serious movie." Don't waste your time with this. I give it an F. |

^ I watched this last night and pretty much have to agree. It meandered for nearly two hours with no real payoff and not one of the characters was likable. Not much dialogue either as a lot of the scenes were nothing more than drug/drinking binges set to loud music. A very strange movie.

Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman had this listed first in his 5 Worst Movies of 2011.
