Abduction (D: John Singleton) Taylor Lautner action flick 9/23/11
or as I'm sure most here will go "WHY JOHN WHY" or "I didn't know Singleton was directing this"
per wiki
The film is about a teenager who finds out that his parents are not really his when he sees his baby picture on a missing persons website
has a decent cast too
Lily Collins
Alfred Molina
Jason Isaacs
Maria Bello
Sigourney Weaver
Freema Agyeman
Michael Nyqvist
You know its bad when they don't screen it for critics and critics attending the premiere were forbidden to review/tweet about it before friday (a first for Singleton?)

Hm. I have liked John Singleton's newer movies. Sigourney Weaver is usually good. And the trailer took a few twists that I didn't expect to see.
The only thing that this movie doesn't have going for it is that it's about cool, sexy teens. I can't identify with any of that. I'm more of a sucker for Joe Schmoe being stuck in a situation like that. Those young chaps are too hawt for their own good. But then I guess I'm not the target audience.

Why not John? Last good movie he made was Higher Learning.
I'm more like Why Rypro, why did you have to make a thread about this movie?

I saw the trailer in front of Contagion. What I gathered is that it's about a werewolf who looks like a teenager who finds out he was abducted as a young cub and his human parents are crazy or something.
I think I'll pass.

I was thinking the same thing. Terrible actor outside of the Twilight movies, just like Pattison or whatever his name is.
I laughed during the trailer whenever he had some sort of dramatic scene.

I saw this last week, and it was fucking awful.
It is a complete vanity project for Lautner, in that the first 30 minutes or so are basically playing up how cool and athletic he is. "Here I am partying with my boys. Here I am riding the hood of a speeding truck. Here I am jump-roping. Here I am wrestling. Here I am kick-boxing."
Once the chase begins, the girl is tagging along for no reason, and is largely forgotten by the climax.
Lautner is impressive with some of the stunts, but he is an awful actor, which becomes even more evident when sharing the screen with the likes of Molina, Weaver, Maria Bello, and Jason Isaacs.

the trailers make me think I can't buy Lautner as an action star, just doesn't come off as a tough guy badass at all.
Though considering Singleton's unintentional, hilariously bromantic 2 Fast 2 Furious, this seems like a good fit.

"Listen to me Nathan, we're going to find you."
"Not if I find you first." snaps fingers, swishes off.

Anyone who complains that Sam Worthington can't emote needs to watch this trailer. Shit, Seagall has more expressions than this Lautner kid.

All I see is a giant smurf nose when I look at that guy. Then eyebrows over there has more hair on her forehead than her daddy has on his head. I thought it was gonna break out into a Phil Collins song in that trailer at the 30 sec mark.

I thought Pattison did a pretty good job in Water for elephants. Not the best, but it seems like he is growing with each film outside of Twilight. I think he's the only good actor out of all the twitards.

I couldn't help but giggle all the way through the trailer. Lautner is just not even remotely credible in this kind of role, are almost any role to be honest. This is proof you don't have to have talent to succeed in Hollywood. Megan Fox is more proof, as well as a ton of other actors.

Re: Abduction (D: John Singleton) Taylor Lautner action flick 9/23/11
Lautner isn't much of an actor and behind his face is a brain ticking away at one kilometre per hour with the repetitive long-held close-ups of his face yielding no more emotional insights than the equally long close-ups of his stomach.
The previews look terrible and Lautner's two facial expressions aren't going to help it.
