What was that movie?

deals with robots fighting.

All i can remember in the trailer was a boy training a training robot for a fight, but the father figure said that robot will never win, since it was designed to be a training robot.

TIA!

Is this for real?

I don't think I've ever seen a "what was that movie" thread asking about a movie that hasn't even been released yet. Usually it's about some B movie released in the mid 80's or something.

To be fair, the movie should be called Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots and instead it sounds like a Japanese Anime.

You mean, for the ones who haven't read the thread we already have going?

Thanks.

I feel like they first showed the trailer for this ages ago, which may explain why the OP didn't know it was yet to be released.

Fixed.

Wait, I guess this is thread #3.

Maybe somebody could help me out.
I'm looking for a film.

It was an Asian film. I think it was about a good cop, actor was not too old. I think he goes after the mafia, and they have a fight in a restaurant. I seem to remember a big (yellow) schoolbus in some sort of warehouse, also I think this was towards the end of the movie.

My memory could be playing tricks on me with the details, but any ideas would be cool.

The real question is...

Is it better then The Thing?

Real Steel looks fucking stupid, but the 12-year-old in me thinks it'll be epic. I'll go see it.

Agreed... I wonder why Jackman agreed to do this movie?

Why not do it? For the most part he's an action movie guy and this looks like an action movie. He's in great shape and apparently likes to work out and stuff so he gets to play a boxer--I'm sure he gets to walk around and spar and stuff with his shirt off. It certainly doesn't look like it'll require any prep work or much acting ability at all--looks like a lot of it will be done with CGI so he'll be working with a green screen. And actually it just kinda looks like a fun movie to be a part of even if it does suck.

He'll get his named price...whatever it is, but I'm sure it's pretty damn good at this point. This isn't the type of movie a star like Jackman will take a pay cut for. So, he'll more than likely get a substantial amount of money for doing a seemingly easy movie and one where he's in his element aka shirtless.

Who cares if it sucks? Does Hugh Jackman really care about his acting reputation? If guys like Deniro and Pacino and Nicholson can make shit just for fun or for a payday then Hugh Jackman sure can too.

That's why. Lots of pre-teenage boys will flock to this movie along with adult men like me that can resist it, knowing how ridiculous it really is. Maybe Jackman thinks he can tackle the "adult action hero for teenagers" role. Good for him. :)

As bad as it looks, I'm 100x more interested in this than the last two Transformer flicks.

I think sometimes we think too highly of actors at times.

Actors like to have fun. Just like we do. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was in GI: JOE and he sure as hell knew what he was getting into. And he fucking enjoyed it. I mean..you'd have to slap him to stop saying how much fun he had on that set. Good for him.

I was interested w/ this film until we got a look that he had a son and all the cliche drama coming from it. Oh well.

I actually liked the first trailer better. The second trailer bored me to tears.

Jackman has an 11-year-old son so that might be a factor as well
