Goon (Dowse, 2012) - Canadian Hockey comedy with Seann William Scott
Labelled an outcast by his brainy family, a bouncer overcomes long odds to lead a team of under performing misfits to semi-pro hockey glory, beating the crap out of everything that stands in his way.

Magnet just picked this up after screening in Toronto, and is planning an early 2012 theatrical release as part of Magnolia's Ultra VOD program.

I think Seann William Scott is funny and the preview is kind of meh.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and check this out. Though the coach of the team is the same creepy guy that plays in Sons of Anarchy so that was weird seeing him in that role.

^That's Kim Coates. He's made a career out playing "the creepy" guy. I always enjoy when he pops up in a movie, I don't know why.
Is this movie going to be 4 hours long or is Kevin Smith the only one dumb enough to try that?

I'm a hockey fan, and I kind of like Seann William Scott, so I'll check it out. Looks decent, so DVD rental or something. I wonder how different Hit Somebody will look.
I also wondered if the NHL will say they don't condone this movie since they aren't really down with the goon thing much anymore. But they probably won't, since I doubt that this movie will be a big hit or anything.

Just saw this movie tonight at the Denver Film Festival. Thought it was fantastic, the fighting in it was pretty brutal, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

This movie is available to rent on demand on XBox Live...maybe a few other places as well. Not something that interests me, but thought I'd mention it.

Just watched it. I liked it quite a bit. Jay Baruchel's character was annoying as hell though. Could have done with a bit less of him.

Watched it from the DVR (thanks HDNET Movies and Fios) Fun movie and it indeed is very violent and quite brutal as it deals with the brutal side of hockey fights. also enjoyed Alison Pill as the main female lead
