Loveless, jobless, possibly terminally ill, Frank (Joel Murray) has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and offs the stupidest, cruelest, and most repellent members of society. He finds an unusual accomplice: 16-year old Roxy (Tara Lynne Barr), who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.
Potential plot spoiler from excerpt from an interview with Goldthwait;

There’s a middle aged guy and he’s at home watching a show like My Super Sweet 16, you know that show?…there’s always a horrible kid who gets everything she wants…”I wanted an Escalade! You ruined everything!” So he’s sitting at home watching a show like that, and he drives 400 miles and kills that girl — spoiler alert! — and then her friend, well not a friend, a classmate, is going “did you kill Chloe?” and he doesn’t say anything, and she goes “awesome.” So then they get in this stolen Camero and drive around and kill people. We’re hoping for a Christmas release.


No official trailer yet, but the film did screen at Toronto last week. World's Greatest Dad was one of my favorite movies the year that it came out, so I am definitely looking forward to another black comedy from Goldthwait.

I thought STC was godawful, but I loved WGD. This looks pretty sick. In a good way.

New poster and release date info;

God Bless America will hit VOD and digital platforms on April 6 and then open in some theaters starting May 11.

This looks a little like Falling Down stripped of all its gravitas. A sort of indie remake. I got tired of them gleefully gunning people down after only a two minute trailer.

Still think I'll see it though.

I'm down for this. Not the best trailer but the comedy beats were there. I just hope the film also has the emotional punch of World's Greatest Dad. That film managed to be darkly funny and touching.

I thought World's Greatest Dad was great.

This looks great as well.

I will see this based on the simple fact that I feel the same way Joel Murray's character feels when I am forced to sit through cable TV. I'm not saying I'd go on a killing spree but I'm not totally opposed to someone else doing it. ;)

Bobcat has gotten significantly better with each film he's done, so I'm really looking forward to this after the excellence that is World's Greatest Dad.
