Wasn't most of the Highlander soundtrack by Queen even though the score was by Michael Kamen. I think he also worked with Pink Floyd and a bunch of other artists.

Just wanted to bump this thread with a few films that have been released recently or soon to be released.
Oblivion: M83.
The Raid: Redemption: Mike Shinoda (of Linkin Park) and Joseph Trapanese.
Ruby Sparks: Nick Urata (of DeVotchKa).
Safety Not Guaranteed: Ryan Miller (of Guster).
On that note, Safety Not Guaranteed is an awesome soundtrack.

Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream, The Hole, Moon, and many more.
Nick Cave - The Proposition, The Road, Lawless, etc.

I don't think Clint Mansell counts, because he became a Composer, and is no longer a Musician. He quit being in a band in 1996, and hasn't been in one since, and became a Composer in 1998, and has done only that since.

I mentioned Oblivion by M83 last year, but there's been some additional movies released in the past few weeks scored by musicians.
The Lords of Salem: John 5
The Place Beyond the Pines: Mike Patton (of Faith No More)
Spring Breakers: Skrillex
Trance: Rick Smith (of Underworld)

So musicians aren't composers ? I know what you meant, of course, I'm just joking about the thread title. I believe Mark Knofler and Ry Cooder have had pretty extensive resumes scoring films.

Re: Movies With Scores Composed By Musicians, NOT Composers
I came here to make the argument that composers are musicians, but I understand what you mean now. I guess I would have just phrased the question differently because to imply composers aren't musicians seems sort of insulting to composers. I'm sure nearly all of them are very capable on at least a couple instruments.
