"Park's unsettling visuals and his handling of the cast make the occasional holes in Wentworth Miller's script practically irrelevant." - John DeFore (Hollywood Reporter)
"Stoker proves that not only can Park Chan-Wook do what others like Polanski and Jeunet have sometimes failed to do, but he can do it with just the same amount of gusto and which panache that made all of his Korean films so damn good." - Ty Cooper
"Literary references and symbolism abound in Stoker. You can get tied up trying to figure out who is what. That is the idea." - Jeremy Kay (Guardian UK)
"When South Korean genre iconoclast Park Chan-wook decided to bring his peculiar gifts to a Stateside production, anything could have happened - and anything pretty much does in "Stoker," a splendidly demented gumbo of Hitchcock thriller, American Gothic fairy tale and a contemporary kink all Park's own. Led by a brilliant Mia Wasikowska as an introverted teenager whose personal and sexual awakening arrives with the unraveling of a macabre family mystery, this exquisitely designed and scored pic will bewilder as many viewers as it bewitches, making ancillary immortality a safer bet than "Black Swan"-style crossover biz for Fox Searchlight's marvelously mad March hare." - Variety
"Even so, "Stoker" is a stylish and often stunning exercise for Chan-wook Park, and it's worth seeing to check in on Wasikowska as she continues to prove herself one of the most significant talents of her age group. "Stoker" may not delve much deeper than its admittedly sinister surface, but the dark kicks it offers are quite effective." HitFix
"Wasikowska has shown a new depth here, and is sure to be pursued for it." - Screen Daily

This starts this weekend, it has decidedly mixed reviews (66% on rt right now) but my favorite review:
Prepare to hate yourself for loving it.
Also Philip Glass was originally composer on it but he was replaced by Clint Mansell.
That's a lateral move if anything (alright I like Mansell a bit more)

Wentworth Miller writing a screenplay and Park Chan-Wook directing an English language film wih Kidman? I've heard some odd combinations in my day, but that one ranks among the weirder ones. Wonder how someone so iconoclastic will fare in Hollywood. As ever, we'll find out.

So really the only oddball out is Park Chan-Wook.

Well if you break it down, it's a gothic screenplay named after Bram Stoker written by a gay english bloke (so it should be very literary! < /stereotyping>) for a dark Korean director starring an english lad (Goode) and three Australian women (Nicole, Mia, Jacki). And Produced by Ridley Scott and the late Tony Scott.
So really the only oddball out is Park Chan-Wook.

Wentworth Miller has never officially come out as gay, but the rumors persist he is.

This looks good. Anytime Kidman acts creepy is usually indication of a decent movie. I'm definitely interested.

There's a screening this weekend at the Smithsonian with the director for fucking free, but of course I can't make it!
