I really hope they're not expecting this to be a smash hit at the theaters. Even if it turns out well, it's the kind of movie that will find it's life on Bluray and streaming down the road (just like the original).

i don't think smash. but with the 2 leads and director it will do well. certainly better than original, even adjusted. it is coming at a good time in Fall and should find a good audience due for yearning for a good sci-fi. last was probably The Martian, even though that is more character driven. sure, it won't do gangbusters, but it will do well...

The art of making a great Movie Poster died a long time ago, and this poster continues to prove that. Its not the worst offender in recent years, but really nothing great about this at all.
Amazing that studios spend millions on movies and their promotion, but when it comes to the poster they tighten the purse strings and go cheap, employing a teen photoshopper to slap something together in between squeezing their zits.

I completely agree, that poster is absolute ass. "Coveted" R rating? Not sure that guarantees anything. Not sure why if it was PG-13 would be nonsense.

Jared Leto looks as flat, untextured, and featureless as his acting. He looks like a CGI rendering of himself.

I've given up caring about the posters because I know they're going to be crap.
I guess whatever it takes to get people in the seats is what has to be done. As long as the movie is good, I'm really looking forward to having a Bluray version to sit next to my 5 disc Bluray set of the original.
