I heard that they're also going to change the ending of Inglourious Basterds. Instead of Hitler being killed in a movie theater, they're going to let him live.

Maybe this will be a chance to re-edit the trailer without that stupid hip hop song.

I know Groucho's schtick. I was just saying that Fleischer shouldn't be cast aside as a hack since Zombieland was a good film.

Saw a trailer for this with Argo the other day. Looked good, then I saw they intend to release it in January of 2013, which means it's most likely a stinker that happens to have a lot of good talent.

The film's initial release was pushed back so they could rework a scene that was reminiscent of the Aurora Colorado theater shooting.

Already have a ticket for Friday I thought the trailer looked really good and I'm looking forward to it, big Gosling and Penn fan.

I thought buzz seemed a little dialed down since first trailers. With Zero Dark Thirty opening wide Friday, I'm afraid my allegiances will lie elsewhere...

Saw the trailers for this during the football game last night. I have to say, this looks completely awful based on the trailer. I hate this "super high concept", adhere-to-every-genre-cliche style that Hollywood seems stuck in these days.

I found a review of this that you may find interesting:

I plan to see this but I'm apprehensive. I really disliked two previous films about L.A. police/gangsters in the postwar era: BUGSY and L.A. CONFIDENTIAL,
chiefly because I didn't believe any of the actors in either film. I've read about that period and there's still room for a good film about these characters, e.g. Chief William H. Parker (who is credited on all the old 1950s TV episodes of "Dragnet" and is played in this film by Nick Nolte) and Mickey Cohen.
Here's the Wikipedia page on Chief Parker:

Also, it's highly doubtful that there were any black detectives on the Gangster Squad, as portrayed in the film (by Anthony Mackie), given Chief Parker's notorious racism. That already raises a red flag with me.

Or an hispanic one. The inclusion of a ****** and a spic is what actually bothers me most. I'm not knowledgeable of that era for L.A but I sure as hell know there was no goddamn way a non white guy would be so easily put in the fold.
I'm actually wondering how they're excising out that whole theater shootout thing. Wonder if it came out cleanly or not.
Why didn't the actors make you believe them in L.A. Confidential?

You should watch old episodes of "Dragnet" from the 1950s to see what I'm talking about. The cop characters were more clipped, no-nonsense and direct. Not that I would necessarily mistake that show for reality (although the episodes were all based on actual cases). The truth was probably somewhere in between.
