You gotta see at least the 1st two, to put Salvation in it's proper perspective. Hell, you should even watch the 3rd one just for the hell of it. You're definitely missing out by not seeing Salvation's predecessors, to see how the franchise started, and how it progressed up to Salvation. -kd5-

You're in your 20's, right? Get used to it. I'm 27 and have had a few 20-or-so year old employees over the past year or two. I felt like such an old man. It gets weird when you're talking to people who never listened to Nirvana, Guns N Roses, Radiohead, etc. And I'd bring up something like Die Hard movies and they've never really heard of nor seen them. There's certain things (mostly in music and movies) that were hugely, monumentally important and influential to me, and I have people around me who've never heard of the stuff. After the shock, I can appreciate it because it keeps that stuff in check.

It's good to get a fresh perspective on that stuff. It's good to remind yourself that movies are not a big part of most people's lives.

T2 is the movie I saw the most times in the theater. Six times I believe. Awesome movie.

I was 12 when I my aunt took me and my cousin to see it. Definitely ranks up there as one of the great, amazing theatrical experiences I've had. Sadly we don't get too many great, ultra cool action movies these days. The chase scene when they're leaving the mall is still one of the all-time best action sequences. It was superbly edited with the score.

And this was such a massive hit. It had a worldwide box office figure of $519 million with 1991 dollars. It also racked up 6 Oscar nominations (Editing, Cinematography, Make-up, Visual Effects, Sound, and Sound Editing.) It won the last 4.

I remember my mom renting the movie from the grocery store and bringing it home. I was about 4 or so at the time and I pulled the VHS out of the bag and saw the half-robot-half-Arnold guy on the front of the case and was sold. I remember sitting down that night in front of the TV with my dad and being blown away. We dubbed that rental copy and I had my very own bootleg copy of T2. I watched the shit out of that tape.

I remember seeing that excellent teaser on a VHS copy of some movie I used to watch. I loved that teaser but never understood why that awesome robot-makin' stuff wasn't in the movie.

I remember seeing this it's first weekend at age 14 with a bunch of friends. Back in those days they didn't really enforce the R-rating for a lot of movies, or make an adult be with you. If you had "written permission" from your parents, you could go and see it. So, even though it was R, it was a theater full of adolescents.

This kind of an illustration as to how much times have changed. This was a rated R movie that was also the most expensive movie in history costing about $100 million to make. These were the days when such extravaganzas were never heard of, as opposed to one per summer weekend as we have now. Curiosity was at a peak to see what this would look like, and it delivered the goods.

Remember watching the movie with my wife and bunch of other friends in the theater on opening night.

We all marveled at the movie and how we just witnessed the changing of movies forever.

It brought back the magic of going to the movies again.

I think the original is darker/creepier, but T2 is better movie. A deeper storyline, deeper characters, better action, etc.

I didn't have a problem with Edward Furlong playing a young John Connor. He was a little too much of a bad mouthed smart ass but he played it good for the most part.

For me it's:

1) The Terminator
2) T2: Judgment Day
3) Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

and the rest don't exist to me.

T3 was enjoyable and very funny, but really subpar when held to the standard of the previous two.

T:S was just bad.

Man, you guys make me feel old. I had just graduated high school and saw it in the theater with a buddy. The movie delivered so much. I loved every sequence even the mental hospital ones. The effects were incredible. Even the shadows and reflections on the liquid metal looked accurate. And in typical Cameron fashion, just when you think the movie is over, it's far from it.

I remember seeing it in the theater when I was 15 and being nervous because I was "sneaking in" by going with my older cousin. It was pretty badass and I still consider it badass today.

4. Terminator Salvation (actually enjoyed it)

Crap. I was 20 when T2 came out. I liked the original more then, and I like the original more now, but MANOMAN was T2 an event. It was the one movie where everyone everywhere dropped everything and went to go see it.

Looking back on it now, it's still a fine action/sci-fi movie, and a game-changer for big-budget special effects extravaganzas. The previous year Arnold released TOTAL RECALL, and that was almost firmly rooted in the look and feel of the 70s and 80s scifi/effects movies. T2 was the herald of the 90s-style of genre movies.

I remember one of those T2 editions had the high-definition Windows Media version. Crashed my machine a number of times and I never watched the whole thing. :lol:

My favorites are T1, T2, and TSCC. I enjoyed T3 and didn't mind TS but don't need to watch either again.

I remember seeing the previews for it on Entertainment Tonight or something. I had no idea what Terminator was but it looked amazing. Besides Batman, it was one of the few movies I was really excited to see.

When I did first see it, it was great. It was one of the local theaters that had the biggest screen in the area. I hadn't seen the previous one but I followed the story just fine. The whole world of Terminator was so interesting that I remember buying up all the magazines that had info about it.

Later the extended edition came out but for some reason I never saw it until the Artisan DVD came out.

Ha ha. Why don't you just say that you don't like Titanic and Avatar? It's not like the guy has made two dozen movies since True Lies and they've all been bad. He's made 2 that aren't documentaries or tv movies--Titanic and Avatar.

Cameron has only directed 8 movies (7 if you don't want to include Piranha 2) and of those 7, only 4 have been R-rated action movies.

Somehow he got labelled as like the king of R-rated action movies, but he's made 4 of those movies in his entire life. Granted, all 4 were great, but still it's not like he's made a ton of R-rated action movies. He hasn't made many movies period.

It was the summer after 7th grade. I remember going with my buddy and he was so excited by the movie that he couldn't hold still, he litterally jumped out of his seat and would grab his knees up to his chest. He reacted that way to most action movies we saw, but T2 just blew his fucking mind I guess. He couldn't sit still. I was really excited too and blown away, but not to THAT extent. I don't think I've ever been that excited about anything. He was a kooky kid.

Anyway, I had already seen the original Terminator and Aliens and the Abyss although I don't believe I knew they were all by the same director. Anyway, while I really enjoyed T2 I did not like it as much as the Abyss which, at that time, was my most favorite movie.

I also didn't think T2 was as good as the first Terminator because I thought it was better to have Arnold as the bad guy and have him barely speak. I always thought it was super cool that he only said like 14 words in the whole film and yet everybody remembered the Terminator. It felt like they made the Terminator a good guy just because Arnold didn't want to play bad guys in his career anymore. I still feel the same way.

Anyway, good movie but then and now I like Predator and Die Hard more.
