Well, they just billed me $9.95 on the 23rd.

Not sure now if I should try to make the most of this or cancel anyways because they appear to be days away from completely going under.

Maybe I'll try to see 1 more (non-peak pricing) show and then call it a day as that would essentially pay for this month.

Sad. There are no AMCs around here. I'll mainly miss going to see the art house films at the theater a few blocks from my house

Even if you cancel now, you'll still get service for the rest of the month.

Cool. Will be heading to my app and cancelling so I won't forget. No way am I giving them another $10 to support this train wreck.

And hey... if for some reason it comes back and works... 9 months from now is April... just in time for the next blockbuster season!

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

This may look like I am padding my prognosticating skills ... unfortunately I had a family emergency (everybody is OK except for the car) and never made it back yesterday to make two predictions ...

The first was to predict the “technical difficulties” were that they failed to pay their credit card processor. I suspected this the last time they had the “service outage” earlier this month. It was fairly obvious since the e-ticketing was still working.

The second was to set today’s over/under at $4.00. Yesterday I had it at $7.50 and I think they closed a bit under $7.00.

The biggest sign of doom over the last few weeks has been their unwillingness to talk about subscriber numbers at the shareholder meetings. If your “growth” was still on track, you’d have been touting how much past 3 million (the last benchmark) you are. Instead they kept pushing “we’ll be at 5 million by the end of the year” without any real information. Churn and burn ... two important factors in customer base that they wouldn’t talk about. How many have they lost and how fast were they dropping?

Really? I thought they canceled it right away. I’ve been sitting on mine for another couple of weeks just in case I can get some use out of it.

Cancelled. Sad to let it go, but the end is inevitable.

May try to get a few more runs with it if they can pay their bills.

But, the peak pricing is what is killing it for me and others. I didn't pay for a glorified discount coupon card to see the movies.

From my cancellation email:

Your cancellation will be processed at the end of your billing cycle, at which point your service will be deactivated and you will not be charged anything further.

Your MoviePass account will remain active until the end of your current billing period.

You will not be able to reactivate your account or start a new subscription for 9 months (unless you're redeeming a gift subscription that carries from an active month-to-month subscription).
It also states this in the app before you cancel.

Congratulations Ted Farnsworth! Keeping the streak alive ...

Share price is $2.50. Equivalent of 1 cent/share before the split.

From an article posted last October:

The 55-year-old spent several years in the murky world of penny stocks, thinly traded securities that spike on hype and fall just as quickly. Three public companies he led faded into obscurity after failing to deliver on their promises, and their stocks have all dropped to near zero.
By 2001, he had gotten into penny stocks. Shares of three companies Farnsworth led dropped 99 percent during his tenure despite a steady stream of press releases about their ambitious plans.

Deadline has a write up on the Mission Impossible outage.

One of the biggest movies of the summer opens this weekend and they don't want to pay for it.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

Just realized I have to pay for Halloween 2018 out of pocket at a Regal theater when it comes out in October. Otherwise I won't get the 4 free digital codes for the movies that were part of the Universal/Regal promotion because I've seen 3 of the 4 (thanks to Movie Pass)

But, I don't really mind of this one as I was going to see it anyways with or without that damn card.

Maybe they will launch their own deal by then.

The hits keep coming today. That connection with the Indian firm accused of fraud which was reported earlier in the thread, but in more detail:

https://www.businessinsider.com/movi...e-fraud-2018-7

Parent company is being accused of securities fraud, though few details so far, and it just seems like a class action suit with some lawyers hungry for money (newsflash: there is no money):

How long is this $5M bailout loan going to last them? 1 week maybe 2?

I would be shocked if they somehow survive 1 more month.

Probably not, but they weren't burning through cash as fast either, as they only had something like 20,000 subscribers before they launched the $9.99 price point.

I mentioned that a week or so ago. I also noticed that some movies that I've already seen aren't grayed out at my local e-ticketing theater, even though they are at other theaters.

Considering the card processor still hasn't reauthorized them, so the only people who can use the service today are people who use eticketing, they might coast a bit. But only because the service is basically completely down.

About a year ago, I used to have a Regal near me, and I had one movie to see to finish off a set of 4 to get the digital codes. I missed the movie at my local theater, so I bought a ticket online (or through the app) to the movie at a Regal theater in Texas for cheap.....I live in Minnesota.

Of course, I never actually went to the movie but still received the codes.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I just checked the app and got a message saying they're still having issues as of 3pm ET.

What a disaster for this company.

I bet cancellations are happening in droves.

Edit: Mission Impossible is now unblocked, but with a $6 surcharge, if you can check in...
