I've never been asked to show ID for Moviepass.
As to reducing the number of monthly movies, that's a risky bet as to how many people will unsubscribe.
While 4x a month is still a good deal I don't see many movies at all during the school year. I can go at least 2-3x a week during the summer, which would be out of the question if they changed it.

I used MP today for IW and didn’t get an update your app message... I was hoping to see it a few times in the next few weeks.
I don’t update apps or iOS on any regular basis.

Read a workaround earlier to counter the no repeat viewings :
1.Pick a movie on MP you have no intention of ever seeing.
2.Take Photo of ticket stub for MP
3.Exchange ticket at customer services "oops picked the wrong movie"

My app auto updated. There is now text on the movie poster that says You've already seen this movie.

My app just updated and now I can’t log in. Looks like a ton of folks on Twitter are experiencing the same thing.

As others here, I had the App force me to update as I went to a local theater.
I then had to sign in manually again, before being allowed to see the film I checked in for.
Just got home from that screening, checked the App again, it logged me out and now I can't log back in.

This guys are so full of shit it's almost insulting.
I use mine every week for the big new release.
MoviePass isn’t worried about summer’s onslaught of big pics like Infinity War. “Due to the lack of seats, our subscribers typically don’t go on opening weekend because they can’t get in,” specifically given the last-minute purchase nature of the app, rather “they go second or third or fourth week. With an inventory of different movies, when we push one above the other, it turns out that the big ones aren’t a big threat.”

In my city I see Moviepass all the time (waiting in line), and apparently the theaters do to because they always comment about it. But never someone outside selling tickets. I wouldn't even trust someone doing that just to save a few bucks myself.
Oh, I give you cash and you're going to purchase the ticket? Oh and you have to take a photo of the ticket? Yeah, that doesn't seem like a scam, go ahead.

I got the email too and I've been taking photos for a while and was in the first round of "testers". I think they might have just rolled it out to everyone, and sent the email to everyone.

Me, either. Maybe you have to do this at a certain level of service? I've only seen 11 in 6 months.

After the update, I was able to log in this morning, and now have the "You've already seen this movie" verbiage over films I've seen. Still not asked to take a photo of the ticket yet.
So the closest theater to me is an NCG Cinema that is on the MoviePass app, and I've seen quite a few films there, but the showtimes never populate. The only option is to check in with 'Showtime Unavailable". Seems like someone could use that to see a movie several times if one were so inclined.

Then I saw the bolded statement ... the depths of bullshit here is almost humorous. So ... is the CEO a shoot-off-my-mouth moron, delusional, a con man, or really just that far detached from reality?

But yeah, both Farnsworth and Lowe seem full of it. Here's an article on Farnsworth, with a few quotes that made me laugh:
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/26/b...ness&smtyp=cur
“I’m not worried about the viability of MoviePass at all,” said Ted Farnsworth, chief executive of Helios and Matheson Analytics, which owns 92 percent of the service, with Verizon holding the balance. “Our customer service has dramatically improved, we’ve worked out the little bugs with the technology and we have plenty of money to get through the next year.”
Mr. Farnsworth, whose previous ventures have included a pay-per-call psychic hotline, insisted that the naysayers were wrong.
To a degree, the service depends on traditional subscription economics: more people pay than go. “We’re profitable on 88 percent of our customers,” Mr. Farnsworth said.

We strangely do live in a time where losing money doesn't mean a failed business plan.

I bought a movie ticket to Super Troopers 2 last night with MP before I went in to see Avengers (with tickets I bought a long time ago) just to cost those a-holes a few more bucks. Screw them.

I like your style. I’m going to go see IW again tonight in 3D ... will buy an additional ticket to I Feel Pretty. (I still want to see ST2 and haven’t had a chance yet.)

Yeah, I didn’t have any issues logging in (my app stayed signed in) but just had to do the forced update. Had to take a picture of my ticket for the first time yesterday.

I didn't say they aren't factual ... I said they don't play out with the claims being made: that you can see any movie you want at any time your want at any theater you want. Unlimited* movies for $9.99 ... *except for all the limitations which the company changes on a whim.
Now MP has added yet ANOTHER restriction with no notice. So, now we have seen MoviePass:
1.) restrict access to a specific movie just to show they could
2.) restrict access to specific theaters as a punitive measure to the theaters
3.) not offer any access to certain other theaters (I believe they even say something like 8% of theaters are not supported)
4.) reduce the number of movies you can see in a month (not yet a change for existing subscribers, but a cap on new subscribers)
5.) restrict you to seeing a movie ONE time
I'm not saying it isn't a good deal. I'm not saying it isn't "just fine" for many people. I am saying the claims of what it is do not bare out and their practices, policies, and business model are more equivalent to an HMO then insurance. They may not be exuding those influences at the moment, but they have and they are likely to in the future.
Edited for fact-checking ... their website states MoviePass is accepted at "over 91% of theaters nationwide". https://moviepass.zendesk.com/hc/en-...use-MoviePass-

1.) I have yet to see this, as I stated previously and you seemingly ignored.
2.) Sure. 10 theaters, in 10 different big cities. Still plenty of options for users to see the movie they wanted in those giant cities.
3.) They have been very up front about this that some theaters are not supported. This seems to be more a function of the theater than Moviepass.
4.) The number of movies that I am allowed to see in a month has not been reduced.
5.) Again, this is not something that I have encountered.
What exactly is your hardon against moviepass? Are you just bitter that there are no theaters around you that take it?
