Sometimes when I go to the movies I'll take a stupid selfie by the poster and put it up on Instagram. Since I joined MP I'd tag the posts with #moviepass just because. Well, yesterday the MP account liked my most recent one and sent me a direct message, thanking me for my loyalty and asking if they could mail a token of their appreciation.
I'm really curious as to what swag or whatever they're going to send. I'll keep y'all posted.

Well, bummer. I never got my forced annual plan renewal email after I cancelled my account two months ago. I still have 1.5 weeks left, think, I’ll get one?

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]
Finally cancelled my membership. Got fed up with no movies ever being available at my three closest cinemas, and when stuff was available, it was always something I didn't even want to see.
What a shitty turn of events, all in all. I was so happy with the service at first, and I never over-used it. I probably maxed out at 4 movies a month, if that. But they went and fucked it all up by making it impossible to use.

This week it was announced Helios and Matheson Analytics (HMNY) will spin off MoviePass and all movie-related activities into a separate public company. HMNY is an analytics company that hoped to use movie pass to gather data about the movie industry that they could use to leverage targeted adverting.
If you are a MoviePass subscriber this spinoff will have no impact right now on your current subscription. For now, we will have to wait and see if MoviePass will make any changes now that they are their own independent company.

One of the contingencies of the spin-off is MoviePass being able to list shares on NASDAQ (or another exchange). This will be interesting.
Why does this feel like yet another sham of an attempt to avoid de-listing?

I went to the movies last night at my regular e-ticketing theater, and I go the "no more showings today" message, which has never happened before with an e-ticketing theater. If this is going to be the new norm, I will cancel, but mine just renewed on the 17th, so I will give it some time to see if I can still use it this month.

This week’s schedule has posted and there are zero mainstream titles. I see plenty of the indies and they are readily available in my market so it’s not a big deal to me, but I can’t imagine this going over well for the average member.

Didn’t go over well with me. I’m finally going to cancel. I haven’t been able to watch a movie in a month. I drove to the theater several times and the movies disappeared right when I arrived.

I have not been able to go see a movie using Moviepass in months. Usually one junk title available, if that.
Finally cancelled last week.

Many months ago I speculated they were using the location tracking to do this deliberately.

Ugh...missed my cancellation date. Anyone know that if you cancel now will you still be able to use your membership for the rest of the month or does it cancel it right away?
Also why does anyone care what movies are in the app? Just buy a ticket to a different movie. The whole disappearing showtimes is much more troubling. That and lately they have one movie available but the other one is a "this premium showing is not supported" movie. Like Halloween. All the show times are for premium showings and therefore not available. I was able to use it to see First Man in IMAX and Venom so I'm still coming out ahead. Its just more annoying to do so.

If you paid the service will stay live until the next billing cycle, at least it did in my case.
When I cancelled, all the movies were disappearing by afternoon. I would have had to go to the theater in the morning to buy a ticket for an evening show.

I've already cancelled but every day I log on and buy a ticket at an e-ticket theater that I have no intention in seeing just to cost this shit show of a company as much money as I can.

It appears that MoviePass has stopped supporting MJR Theaters as an e-ticketing theater. That's why there were no showtimes when I tried to check in the other night. Now they only support one theater in my area for e-ticketing, which is a Landmark art house theater. Unless this changes, I am cancelling before I renew on the 17th.
