Cancelled. Received the sorry to see you go email. Charged on my cc anyway. Just put in a dispute.

Did you receive the email before your billing date that told you about the new features and that if you previously cancelled, you've been uncancelled?

Didn't say anything about un-cancelling. I cancelled 2 days before the billing date. I did get the new features email but did not acknowledge it.

The “new features retention scam” was a pop-up in the app that told you about the new plan. You either clicked “OK” (or “I accept” — I can’t recall the exact wording) or “x”ed out of it to continue using the app. It did not say anything about accepting the terms being a proxy for “uncancelling” your membership.

If you “x”ed out, your cancellation should still be in effect.

If you accepted, well ... Mitch Lowe sends this message:

Is ticket verification still active?

Supposedly it's officially eliminated on your next billing cycle if you choose to stay on.

Interesting. Might just make up my own list of movies to see with Movie Pass. At this point it might be the best way to cancel your subscription.

By the way I wouldn't plan your week around that list they give on their website. It changes. Check it, blackkklansmen is nowhere to be found now.

MoviePass did it again. BlackkKlansman was supposed to be supported today, instead, I have one choice to watch at my local theater, Alpha, and that only has one showing at 4:00, and it's not even a movie I really want to watch.

They still haven't updated their calendar of movies, which right now only extends through this Sunday. Is that a sign they are planning to call it quits after this weekend? And of course I can forget about getting a refund for the remaining 6 months I paid for because a year's subscription was cheaper than month to month.

Time to join AMC.

I haven't opened the app since I cancelled with it. I should be good as far as my cancellation goes?

Probably? Maybe?

As long as you made sure to fill out the *required "Reason for Cancellation" section you should be okay.

I said it before but they changed the schedule on the fly, blackkklansman is no longer on the list at all.

You don't have to fill out the comment box at all. You click on that arrow for the drop down menu and you select the reason and that's it.

I wish they would update their schedule beyond Sunday. I'm anxious to plan what I can do. I was anxious to see Searching which is listed for twice this weekend. And it's not coming to my closest theater until the following weekend.

That was a different and distinct issue (and was more user error than shady-AF behavior by MP) when people tried to cancel.

The re-enrollment issue occurred after people had successfully canceled but before their month was over.

Then there was a third issue when people tried to re-cancel ... that one was the “error” message.

If you never opened the app after canceling, you should be safely canceled. If you opened the app but did not accept the new terms message (clicked “x” in the corner), you should be fine. If you opened the app and thought you were just saying “Ok, I read it” ... then you are still in.

I wonder if that's a sign they don't plan to be in business past this weekend.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I'm officially free from Moviepass and all their shenanigans. Today was the day my cancellation was scheduled to go into effect after I cancelled 2 times. Checked my credit card and did not get billed. Whew!!

Deleting the app from my phone and shreading my card later today.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I was able to use it for Eighth Grade yesterday, only by using the "open the app super early and don't let it refresh" trick.

That was the first time I was able to use it in a month, and the ticket was less than $10 anyway. I probably won't get a chance to use it again before the end of the month. I'm not sure why I don't just cancel.

7th movie in the last 10 days for me. Used the open the app early trick to get a ticket for Rifftrax Live Krull tonight!
