I am canceled, so the app won’t even open for me anymore.

I thought you said they wouldn't let you cancel.

Wow, that is such bullshit.

I smell more cancellations this weekend.

Slender Man and The Meg 2D are the only ones showing up on my app.

If this is a long term change, they’re going to lose even more customers.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

Every day it's something different. Going to have to resort to desperate measures to get use out of this over the next 30 days.

I'm using my free Atom ticket for the Spy Who Dumped Me for The Meg this afternoon. Went ahead and bought a ticket for the Meg tonight since that was 1 of only a couple options showing for me. When I come back tonight, I may go see MI:Fallout again (paid out of pocket when it came out). When I leave the theater after midnight, I may follow through with my earlier thought of buying a ticket for tomorrow depending on what is available.

I would imagine that it's just until you get on the 3 movies per month plan, based on previous statements, but who knows?

Limited to The Meg (2D), Slender Man, and The Spy Who Dumped Me.

Now I’ll say things are “sketchy”. 😉

No, I didn’t have any issues and don’t recall saying otherwise. That was the same time people were claiming they couldn’t cancel because they didn’t scroll down (or whatever it was).

I clicked cancel in the app a few weeks back and was done. I didn’t trust them to cancel it, but I didn’t have any issues.

I’d like the screen shot/verbiage for that update to warn people though. I’m betting a lot of people canceled, then accepted that update, and don’t realize they aren’t canceled.

I’m yearly plan, and getting just those two choices at some theaters (Spy & Slender) and nothing at theaters that don’t have those two films.

My MoviePass Cancellation finally went through a few days ago.

Stinks to see the issues with the App regarding appearing/disappearing Showtimes is still an issue and honestly one of the biggest reasons why I decided to cancel in the first place.

Well, just doing a quick check looks like The Meg 2D is now blacked out and the only freaking movie available is Slender Man. As mentioned before Eticket theaters aren’t affected.

I got some promotional MoviePass email plugging Slender Man, so they must have some deal with them.

I think that's going to be the final nail. I don't know there are so many of them now.

Seriously this has to be some breach of contract right? How can they make you sign up for terms that are more generous than what they are making up right now. MP is like the business equivalent of your roommate in college who blew all his money on beer on Monday but couldn't chip in for pizza on Friday. Either this was the plan all along to torpedo this company or the CEO is really REALLY REALLY stupid.

re: MoviePass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: THE DEAD SHALL RISE]

I just got an email from MP promoting M:I Fallout. At the end is the tagline "There is no limit to the impossible." I believe MP has showed us over the past couple of weeks that there are indeed plenty of limits to it.

Interestingly, the email's subject was "Tuesday night's mission..." So maybe that'll be one of the two pre-selected movies starting on Tuesday?

This morning everything showed up in the app around 8 am. Then around 9 it was whittled down to The Slender Man and The Meg. I rushed out to the theater and got there right when they opened at 10 am and was able to secure a ticket for 6:50 this evening (which had a gray lightning bolt). Afternoon showings were all peak. So I at least got one ticket out of this new billing month.

The only thing they guaranteed was the price for one year. They did renege on that but then backtracked on the renege. I'm sure the fine print allowed for changes to the terms.

I'm on an annual plan.
I can see The Meg (2d) or Slenderman.
Up until today I didn't see any of the other issues.
It is truly mindboggling how stupid these decisions can be. It's definitely "pull us out of a tailspin" territory.
Setting my calendar reminder to cancel 10 days before my anniversary date. I hate it, i was such a fan, I recommended it to anyone I knew who was into movies.

We don't have anything like this in Australia

No wonder, it just sounds like a stupid business model

It’s not a stupid business model. It’s stupid CEOs with no business model.

I'm assuming things were okay before they needed a huge subscriber base, so they went to $9.95/month.

It is when the cost to the company is 9 bucks per movie viewing and you are only charging customers 9.95 for unlimited.

Then why do they make you sign for the 3 movies a month plan? If they can just change it whenever they please why even bother? So far they have been pretty sly about limiting viewings. You know their app isn't having all these issues. It's clearly something they are doing on purpose. But so far they have had plausible deniability and have been acting innocent about the changes. Now this stupid pick from 2 movies a day thing is an official change in policy.

I'm sure there was a legal reason they had to make you sign a new contract for 3 a month from unlimited. There's no way they would have made you opt in otherwise, they basically lost their best customer, the guy who signed up and never used it or checked his account.

Let see... today, I have the choice to see Slenderman and ... nothing else (the other option - that changes from theater to theater - is greyed out).

Sketchy indeed.

Yup, me too. Slenderman or nothing.

To be fair, the service is called Movie Pass, not "Movies Pass".

I wonder what they're going to do when they get rid of ticket validation, and even limiting you to one movie is just going to have people check in and buy a ticket to something else instead (which would only work once, but still).

I have to imagine that they're going to open it back up to more movies once you're on the new plan, but what do I know?
