Used it again yesterday, no problem. I have to keep signing into the app though. Remember me!

That "shipped" message is useless. Obviously it doesn't take 3 weeks for something to go through the mail, and people on reddit were reporting their cards went to shipped within minutes of ordering. Having said that, it seems like a lot of the delayed 15th/16th signups got their cards on Saturday.

Used mine a few hours ago with no issues at all.

I think I have a window of time tomorrow to catch a film. Going to test it out at an AMC.

No trouble redeeming at an AMC this afternoon.

I use movie certificates quite a bit when I visit theaters. Employees are always having trouble when entering them. This MoviePass deal is refreshing with how easy it is.

Still nothing. Ordered on the 16th and it's now pushing 4 weeks.

The app did have a card number at 1st and now it says "Card shipped"

Exactly what happened to me, so I would hope you'd have yours soon.

Not that you'd overlook it necessarily, but an FYI to you and others, that the card will arrive in an "unmarked envelope". At a glance, I might have thought it was junk mail, but I felt a card inside. Nothing about it would tell you it was from MoviePass.

Used the other-movie trick to watch Star Trek II with the hubs, worked like a charm (and AWESOME movie, I just went because he's a Trek head, so far I've only see the first Chris Pine movie and this one).

Wonder if with this many people they're ever bringing take a picture of your stub back. Until then, 3D is back, baby! (but this Saturday I may have to skip 3D to watch IT).

What's the "other-movie trick"?

"Check in" on the movie pass app for one movie, but buy a ticket for a different one, or for a premium (3D, Dolby Cinema, etc) version instead, playing the difference yourself if there is any difference.

It works, but it's against the TOS.

If you had to pay real money (for a legitimate screening) you will be reimbursed if you provide your receipt. Thy may be incompetent at many things, but they're good about that.

Check in for any movie that you don't want to see and make sure that ticket is worth more than the one you are purchasing (i.e. buy the latest showing). Go to the window and buy the ticket for the movie that you want that is not offered in the app.

Not before you get and activate your card, unfortunately

I submitted a claim for reimbursement on 8/18 because the app was not working (first week of the new pricing tier). Still zero response from anyone.

I've heard they used to be good with that, but they're unresponsive now, and they changed their tos to say that they would reimburse you only if you contacted them and they ok'd it... which is impossible right now.

Ah, makes sense. Even if the price was higher, couldn't you just make up the difference?

^ Yes. Many people have done that.

Still against the TOS, though nobody seems to care about that
Just means if they catch onto people doing this stuff, they'll kick you off the service.
They're trying to get into the "big data" business, and that data isn't useful to them or their partners if it's knowingly tainted.

Mine is finally listed as shipped. Hopefully I'll get it in the next few days. Ordered it on the 17th. Doesn't appear they are shipping them out in the order in which they were placed as they stated. It seems pretty random.

Yep, I've used it as a discount on IMAX. If you go to the first 3D showing and sign up at the latest regular showing there's one theater where it would cost me 50 cents and another one where it's free (I go to the free one ).

That stopped when they started requiring some people (me included) to take a picture of the stub after every purchase (and if you didn't then they just shut your account down). But after the $10 price change the app doesn't ask me for that anymore. Hopefully that means that with all these subscribers they just don't have enough time. First time I get asked for a pic of the stub I'll just cancel that check in and do another one for a movie I'll go see.

Another trick is to go on different days and check in for different movies and each time you go buy a ticket for the same movie on the same day (i.e. go Thursday, Friday, Saturday, check in for three different movies one on each day, and buy three tickets for the same movie on Saturday), that way you can treat a friend or two to a free movie.

When in doubt, sign in for the latest showing of a movie (i.e. after 8p), those are the most expensive tickets of the day and give you the most bang for the buck.

There's no way for them to find out what you're actually doing because the movie theaters don't submit movie data to the bank, and all the card is is a mastercard prepaid card. They're not logging what movies you go see, just what movie you check into. That's why short of requiring stubs again, they wouldn't find out.
