Put up or shut up.
Again. The only one talking about the TOS is Abob.
Do you honestly think that you buying a ticket for a movie you have no intention of seeing is not scamming moviepass out of the cost of that ticket? You and Abob must be smoking the same junk.

You should also try actually reading the terms of service before you get all hot and bothered next time. It is right there, in black and white. As JPCAmb just posted.

So, I guess, shut up scammer.

So it's only a violation if you do it twice in a given 30 day period?

I'm in the clear!

Contractually? Perhaps. Ethically? Not so much.

[Edit]

Actually, you are not technically "in the clear," even contractually. This specific part of 2.18 says that you are, in fact, in violation:

(viii) You purchase tickets for a purpose other than viewing a movie, such as to earn theater loyalty program points.

Purchasing a ticket to punish MP is a purpose other than viewing the movie.

Try actually reading the TOS. Where it says "You purchase tickets for a purpose other than viewing a movie" Which is exactly what you did. So you are indeed scamming moviepass, while also violating the TOS.

Re: Movie Pass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: IT'S ALIVE AND PISSING PEOPLE OFF!]

I'm actually going to use mine again. After not seeing anything in April, then not being able to use it on a 3D viewing of Avengers, I'm going to take a long lunch and see Deadpool 2 tomorrow. I don't even think I'm getting my money's worth but since I'm grandfathered into the better terms I don't want to give them up.

I'm the guy they were hoping for. A movie here or there, buy some concessions, actually watch the movie. I got it thinking it would be great for business trips but I've only been on one so far where I used it for several nights. Now with golf season in full swing it will be tough to see more than a couple real big blockbusters.

Re: Movie Pass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: IT'S ALIVE AND PISSING PEOPLE OFF!]

I used my MoviePass for the first time today to see Blockers. I almost had it for a month and hadn't used it. When I got to the theater, I had trouble getting the Android app to work. I had to restart my phone to get it to work, but I was able to check in after that and had no trouble using the kiosk to buy my ticket. I'm planning to use it again on Wednesday to finally see Infinity Wars.

Me too. I'm amazed they haven't been able to work something out.
If I go by myself, at least 2/3 of the time I buy a popcorn. If I go with my family, we usually buy a popcorn, candy, and 2 or 3 drinks. Because I got a "free" ticket.
I was surprised when they went to 6.95 or 9.95 - I did get in the 89.95 annual membership - and I was paying 30/month before then and thought that was worth it.

I've never left a movie - because it's "free" (or rather, prepaid buffet style) I've seen a lot of movies I would not have paid cash for. And very few of them totally sucked (Lucy was really disappointing). But more often, I left thinking "I enjoyed that" and I would not have seen it (or bought popcorn) without Moviepass.

I want them to succeed, I don't know how they will do it at <10 bucks a month. Unless it's the gym membership strategy. They just have to hope their are more "gym members" than "min/maxers" or "four hours at the buffet" people.

Got an email from MoviePass today for $5 off a pre-order of Avengers Infinity War via their partnership with Vudu. Interesting where they're taking this next, perhaps.

Re: Movie Pass... would it work for you? [UPDATE: IT'S ALIVE AND PISSING PEOPLE OFF!]

I had trouble with the app this morning trying to buy an e-ticket to Deadpool tonight. I selected my seat and tried to buy the ticket, but it kept saying "Failed to create Reservation". I sent a message via chat and got no response. So I had to wait until 11 when their customer service line opened, and when I got thru, I found out that it wasn't working because my account was past due.

Why was my account past due? Because the credit card on my account was changed to a number that I do not recognize sometime in the middle of last month, and that card was rejecting the charge. I don't know where this number came from or how it got changed, because I certainly didn't do it, so that was really weird.

Also, you'd think if this was the case the app could give me an error that could actually help me fix the problem myself (it worked as soon as I changed my credit card number back in the app) instead of the useless "failed to create reservation" error that tells me nothing.

I got the email as well, unfortunately for Movie Pass they are doing it wrong again. It said get a $5 credit if you pre-order Infinity War. I think great, ok this is a way to help support Movie Pass. But no, it just lets you apply the code to your account and get a free $5 for anything.

Wow, I got that e-mail too and Movie Pass totally goofed on that one. How did they not lock that into Avengers: Infinity War's pre-orders? Now they just gave away a free $5 to everyone of their subscribers for anything on Vudu. I redeemed the code and yeah it's just a $5 credit sitting on my account.

I'm disappointed. No free $5 for me.

What was the subject line of the e-mail?

Thanks for mentioning it will work on anything. I would’ve just deleted it otherwise. Used it on a rental.

I bet MoviePass couldn’t give away free beer without somehow setting the bar on fire.

That is weird. So you didn't know something was up until you tried to check in.

See what's frustrating is Movie Pass would be much better with just a few refinements. They obviously need a stats/numbers guy so they can crunch some numbers to present theaters and studios and investors about how much business they are driving. Also little hiccups like that should be pretty easy to fix.

Looks like more a Vudu goof than MoviePass. Vudu is the one that doesn't have it tied directly to Avengers. In addition, #4 in the redemption instructions tells you the credit can be used for almost anything (4. Credit value will be applied to your next purchase or rental).

I'm happy with a $5 credit, though.
