Can't believe you did that.
There was a guy on Facebook that would post the big spoiler from The Force Awakens in random conversations.

I'm not seeing this on the app. When I look at theaters it still allows me to click "Check In" for stuff that I have already seen using Movie Pass. Is the message displayed after you click check in within 100 yards of the theater?

I can still check in to movies I’ve seen.

My app updated today. Check your updates and see if you have one pending. That triggers it

Anyone else having difficulty getting theaters to shop up on the app? None are showing on mine now.

Funny, I just saw Black Panther last night again (first time was opening day in Feb) with my gf because she hadn't seen it and I said it was great MP allows users to see movies more than once now because otherwise we couldn't have gone together.
And today, this. No update listed for me... yet. Does the app not open if there's an update pending?

I can fully understand them wanting to slow the bleeding (hemorrhaging), but man that's a crappy customer experience to not even get a notification or anything prior them them changing terms like this. It's not like app store updates get pushed out within minutes, so they knew this was going to happen. Shoot, if you were at the theater already waiting to see Infinity War a second time today with your friends, how crappy would that be?

Yeah this is still a good deal, but these changes on the fly and making shit up as they go is getting old.

Also added to the MoviePass terms of service Friday was a line saying that premium plans are in the works, and Lowe said the first will be a “couples” product so that users can bring a friend or spouse to the theater. He’s also working on a plan that will include Imax and 3D movies.
“There’s like 100 new features we’re working on,” he said.
“There’s like 100 new features we’re working on,” he said.
As for the out-of-the-blue no-repeat-movies policy, he said it’s actually a reinstatement of an old policy that was abandoned more than a year ago, and that it is necessary again to cut down on fraud.
“When we took that policy down, we saw some people turning MoviePass into a cottage industry, standing in front of a theater selling their tickets to Star Wars, or whatever,” he said.
Lowe did not know whether the plan that charges $9.95 a month for a movie per day would ever return, but he didn’t rule it out. He reiterated Friday that he expects 5 million subscribers by year’s end, and he said that MoviePass has seen no drop in new subscribers since moving to the package that includes iHeartRadio and only four movie tickets monthly.
“It’s absolutely wonderful to have so many naysayers,” he said. “That gives us a free runway where everyone is terrified to compete with us.”

He is so full of it. You're telling me that people were subscribing to moviepass and going down to the theater to sell their tickets to people every day? Like not just one or two people, but a lot of them? And they caught them how?

I've honestly never seen anyone selling movie tickets outside before. Anyone from a big city see this?

In my city I see Moviepass all the time (waiting in line), and apparently the theaters do to because they always comment about it. But never someone outside selling tickets. I wouldn't even trust someone doing that just to save a few bucks myself.
Oh, I give you cash and you're going to purchase the ticket? Oh and you have to take a photo of the ticket? Yeah, that doesn't seem like a scam, go ahead.

Well I'm sure they are doing this because of abuse. I can imagine some people are getting movie pass and enjoying a movie on Monday and giving their pass to friends/family to see the same movie throughout the week.

You don't think it has anything to do with the blockbuster that just opened that many are going to go see multiple times? It's a cost cutting measure, but not because of abuse (IMHO) and not because they really want me to broaden my horizons.

You can't just pass your card (and your phone), at least not around here. Every theater I've been to asks specifically for ID with Moviepass.

And no I don't think more people are seeing the same movie multiple times than there are people who are abusing the card in some way. That's just my own opinion though.

Now MP has added yet ANOTHER restriction with no notice. So, now we have seen MoviePass:
1.) restrict access to a specific movie just to show they could
2.) restrict access to specific theaters as a punitive measure to the theaters
3.) not offer any access to certain other theaters (I believe they even say something like 8% of theaters are not supported)
4.) reduce the number of movies you can see in a month (not yet a change for existing subscribers, but a cap on new subscribers)
5.) restrict you to seeing a movie ONE time
I'm not saying it isn't a good deal. I'm not saying it isn't "just fine" for many people. I am saying the claims of what it is do not bare out and their practices, policies, and business model are more equivalent to an HMO then insurance. They may not be exuding those influences at the moment, but they have and they are likely to in the future.
Edited for fact-checking ... their website states MoviePass is accepted at "over 91% of theaters nationwide". https://moviepass.zendesk.com/hc/en-...use-MoviePass-

Got another email about taking a photo of the ticket. Maybe they changed the wording of the first one. Or maybe because I haven't used my card for a couple weeks.
