(Yes, I would rank him above Joseph Gordon Levitt and Jesse Eisenberg.) |

Whatever happened to Emile Hirsch? I think the last thing he was in was that Woodstock movie from a couple years ago.

Re: Ryan Gosling is an acting genius
I just can't get excited for movies with Gosling, but to be fair I have not yet seen Half Nelson or Blue Valentine (which I want to see more because of Williams). I thought Fracture and The Notebook were total shit all around. He was very good in Lars and the Real Girl.
I'm surprised it seems that absolutely no one here likes Eisenberg. I happen to like him a lot and think that it's not just as simple as him getting really lucky with the roles he gets. When I look at the movies he's done there are a lot of good flicks (Squid and the Whale, Zombieland). Two movies that I think are outstanding (Social Network and Adventureland). And even though I'm not a huge fan of Roger Dodger, I remember he was one of the better parts of it. I think that his performances are part of why these movies work so well. I assume we are talking strictly about male actors under 30 that are promising? I love JGL, among the others mentioned in this thread, but I also think that Andrew Garfield has a ton of potential. Thought he was great in Social Network and really loved Never Let Me Go. Makes me excited for the new Spiderman flick. |

You definitely need to check those two films out, as he is most impressive. Excitement will then ensue. |

What, no love for "The Notebook"?
|
Re: Ryan Gosling is an acting genius
He wasn't very memorable in The Notebook and the movie itself was cheese.

Re: Ryan Gosling is an acting genius
Yeah, I liked the movie and it was good but...he wasn't memorable. He was good..but not..memorable.

"If you're a bird, i'm a bird"
He probably would have been excellent in The Lovely Bones had Peter Jackson just let him do his thing. It's all a "what could have been", but we all know what we got was a very lame movie. |

(Yes, I would rank him above Joseph Gordon Levitt and Jesse Eisenberg.) James McAvoy is also very good and he's only 31. |
