michael shannon and jeff nichols
SHOTGUN STORIES was my favorite film of 2007 so i've been waiting patiently for his follow up...so patiently that this flew under my radar until just now. honestly last i heard he was adapting the book "GOAT" but i guess that was scrapped.

And this is being released in Ny and LA tomorrow with a semi wider release schedule soon after
http://www.sonyclassics.com/takeshelter/dates.html
Hopefully it does well enough to convince Sony to give it a semi mainstream wide release

Still 94% on RT, and this total does not include the Four Star review that Roger Ebert just posted.

Re: Take Shelter (2011): Michael Shannon, Dir: Jeff Nichols
I saw it last week in Pasadena. Michael Shannon is solid as usual. He makes me feel so uneasy whenever I see him in anything. Jessica Chastain is so good at playing the wife who deals with family issues, I'm really starting to like a lot. The film is slow but I didn't mid it. I can't give away too much, but if anyone has questions, let me know.

Saw this today, and really, really liked it. Probably one of the most stressful movies I've seen in recent memory. Michael Shannon knocks this one out of the park. Really enjoyed it.
I'd like to think that

This was absolutely amazing. I was expecting great things, of course, but it exceeded my expectations.
Jeff Nichols is a gifted director, what with 'Shotgun Stories' and now this, and Michael Shannon is one of the best actors we've ever had.
I hope they continue working together.

Alright come clean, how are you watching all these movies before the rest of us? Are you part of an online critics society and you get into advanced screenings? Do you live in LA or NYC where everything comes out earlier?

Michael Shannon, again, was great. Jessica Chastain has come out of nowhere to be in literally every movie last year, and while haven't seen The Help or Tree of Life yet, she was really good here.
Yeah, I agree with everyone sofar in that this was another home run from Jeff Nichols.

Michael Shannon was straight up robbed by the Oscars.

I really enjoyed and appreciated this film. This truly was robbed awards-wise. This should be getting at least all of the praise that most other films are getting (The Artist, The Help,Midnight in Paris) in the Best film, Best Actor, Actress and especially in the Cinematography category (The artist seriously had better cinematography than this) .
I also truly liked the ending. Very powerfully and effectively done. I like it when films have balls to do the kind of ending in this. Some films dont have he balls (Red State comes to mind)

This. His acting during the community fish fry scene was some of the most convincing I've seen in ages. At least he was nominated at the Indie Spirit Awards (This and The Artist are the two big movies for that ceremony)
This movie played here months ago and we rarely get arthouse flicks.
