Sad to hear it sucks. I was hoping the change from the same plot from the first two would make it interesting, but I guess not. :(
I don't care for Chow, so the focus on him bums me out too. Guess I won't be catching this in theaters. |
Re: Hangover III
I'll be passing on this as well.

Re: Hangover III
II left a real bad taste in my mouth. The early reviews, and the huge part Chow plays in this confirms I have no interest in seeing this anymore.

Re: Hangover III
All the bad early reviews makes this a rental only for me.

Re: Hangover III
Like that Miller Lite commercial. He's well used there, and it's only on for 30 seconds. I enjoyed the first two, but excess Chow is a theatrical dealbreaker.

Re: Hangover III
It's plummeted to 23% on RT. I barely made it through part 2 as a rental. It might be awhile before I attempt to see this one.

Re: Hangover III
I never finished part two. One of the worst movies I've ever attempted to watch.
This is like Cars 2. Everyone loved Mater in the first one. Too much Mater killed the second. Too much Chow has killed the last two Hangover movies. |
Re: Hangover III
I thought it was all right. Definitely better than Part II for sure. My friend (with whom I saw the first together, which we both loved) enjoyed it more than I did.
It did have a few nice callbacks to the first one, including bringing back some unexpected people, aside from Chow. |
Re: Hangover III
Saw it this afternoon, and I think the only time that I truly laughed was during the scene that happened a minute into the end credits. Throughout the entire film, I kept wondering when the comedy would happen, because it played more like a semi-serious film with some comedic moments (which I think were all featured in the trailer.)

Re: Hangover III
Saw it tonight. I didn't think it was nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. It's easily better than Part II was and I thought the different direction they went with it worked well. There were some good callbacks to the first two films. I do agree that Chow is kind of annoying but I thought he was more tolerable in this one than he was in Part II. Galifinackis is kind of the same, he has moments but sometimes the character goes a bit too over the top. I liked John Goodman's part and Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms were good.

Re: Hangover III
 This film is going to have trouble grossing $100 million domestically.
Based upon midnight and opening day grosses, there's a 66% drop from the last film to this outing. |
Re: Hangover III
Per Boxoffice.com:
The Hangover Part 3 continues to disappoint. WB's comedy is on pace for $12 million on Friday. The critically-panned flick should hit around $40 million from Friday-Monday. Negative word of mouth is clearly spreading at a rapid pace. |

I couldn't agree more, this is coming from someone who thought the first one was pretty good but vastly overrated, and the second was complete garbage. This is in no way a great movie or comedy, but imo its no where near as bad as the reviews are making it out to be. |
Re: Hangover III
Marshall Fine is on the radio here locally on Friday's. His succinct review: Not as good as the first, not as bad as the second.

This movie doesn't give a FUCK about Doug.

Like I said I'm not talking about the main movie (didn't expect him to really be a part of the shenanigans), but the ending part. He was part of the actual partying in the first one. He was just gone for the aftermath. It would stand to reason that he would at least partake
Spoiler:
But your other point, that really was disappointing, since I had read rumors about it. In fact Spoiler:

Overall I think this film is pretty underrated so far and really the amount of hate that's being directed at it seems kind of ridiculous as it's really not that bad. As I said before I thought it was easily way better than Part II was and was a decent way to wrap up the trilogy. Yeah it's not as laugh out loud funny as the first but I appreciate that the creators at least made an attempt to go in a different direction with it. I think this movie was kind of going to be damned if you do damned if you don't from the start because if they had made another sequel that was like the first two it would have been shit on, but you also have the crowds now who are upset that they did go a different direction and isn't exactly what they expected. |
Re: Hangover III
Yea... this wasn't very good. It was not funny really at all.
I feel like though, if they went for something like this with Part II it would've come off better. They shouldn't have strayed from Vegas. I think they could've made a pretty cool series about the seedy underbelly of Vegas, but they just didnt commit to it. Part II could've had Stu going back to get his annulment, Doug could've been involved in the antics, they could've brought some of the Marshall stuff in on this as well. But I will stand by that the first never needed a sequel to begin with. When we got home from the theatre, the first was on TBS. It was almost depressing to see how good the first was. They just couldn't come close to capturing that spark. |
Re: Hangover III
Saw it yesterday. I loved the first one, overrated and sequel unneeded it was. I never saw the 2nd one though. A friend took me to see this. I didn't like it. It's not horrible but it is a lot of excess in narrative. Specifically with some if the characters. I did enjoy some neat things that were callbacks to the first one. And I did like Goodman in this.
Hated the ending. Something about it. It is trying to hard. |
Re: Hangover III
Everyone keeps going on about the credits scene and how hilarious it was. I thought it was dumb and way too over the top.
|
Re: Hangover III
The ending felt like an add-on the studios forced, and directed by the Farrely Bros. It also felt like a slap to the face.
