Deakins is one of the best in the business, no doubt, and it's gorgeous looking.

Interesting Twilight Zone idea stretched out to way too long. Sleek design and sterile lighting, chase format doesn't really have much tension. Seyfreid and Timberlake are the respective eye candy for both sexes, the movie itself is pretty but kind of vacuous, ideas are all unexplored. Mediocre, I wanted it to be a lot better.

Didn't he also direct one of the Twilight sequels?

The Host does indeed look terrible. Shame since I really like the lead and would like Niccol to go back to making good movies.

I loved it, despite its many flaws. I suppose that's because I'm just so starved for intelligent science fiction/dystopia movies where an interesting idea is at the center of the premise. I've watched it twice, most recently last night. The fact that it could have been so much better is like a dull painful ache that only got worse on the second viewing.
