technically - I thought some of the movie wasn't shot very well - maybe it was someone at Fox who transferred the film elements to harddrive digital projection form - but alot of long shots seemed fuzzy and not at all crisp in detail, one shot when young Erik is standing in Sebastian's office his head in the upper left hand of the screen is out of focus - for digital projection these flaws should not have been present.

Saw it today. Thought it was good / 3.5 stars.
I thought X4 would have more potential but I think I'd rather just have a sequel to First Class, definitely forget about another Wolverine movie.
Rose B., McAvoy, Bacon, and Fassbender were my favorites.
I love the Emma Frost character - when she was with Scott in the comics and like the tease in Wolverine. So I was a bit disappointed how she was put here. I agree with how one article described Jones in this - sullen...

Re: X-Men: First Class (Vaughn, 2011) The Reviews Thread
saw it yesterday again...
Fucking love the CORE adult characters. That 1st act for sure is pretty damn strong and well paced. Fassbender is just so fucking badass. 2nd act starts getting shaky for sure. 3rd act (like I've said various times) has some Grade A moments but it's dialogue or actions that take it down so fast. Seemed to want to wrap it up to the known standard of what the X-Men universe is but it'd do it clumsily when it rushed at times. The X kids just really drag it down fast. It was the adult mutants that were really solid (for the most part)
If it was just Mystique, Magneto, Xavier, McTaggert, Shaw and his baddies (w/ some character development)..it'd be soooo much stronger w/ the drama. The X kids just weren't written well.
Fassbender was just going hardcore w/ his emotions there. I could watch a whole movie about him and it'd be great.

Finally saw it tonight. FUCKING FANTASTIC. By far, not only the best X-Men movie ever (nothing else even comes close, and I really like X2) but easily the best Marvel movie. Thor looks like a steaming pile of shit in comparison, and I liked (but didn't love) Thor.
Well done Vaughn.
Well done Vaughn.

Loved it for the most part. They could have gotten rid of the "mutant and proud" sappiness, but Magneto Nazi hunting more than made up for it. I could have watched an entire movie just on that.

I still don't get why they put Mystique with the X-Kids considering she was at least as old as Charles and Erik

I figured it was so beast would have a reason to be motivated into taking the serum. Adolescent males will go to great strides for their first sexual conquest, especially if she is hot....

Saw this yesterday and enjoyed it. Hope they do make a stand alone Magneto movie, would like to see more of the post war-meeting Xavier time frame.

Saw it over the weekend. Very impressed. Have to see it again to decide if I like it better than X2 - but right now it's certainly tied for 1st place as far as my favourite X-Men film goes.

Computer effects? Didn't they do it with Tom Cruise on Knight and Day?
But I was thinking the same thing as I was watching.

I just saw the film. I LOVED it! I'm just familar enough with the X-Men universe to know what's going on, but not knowledgeable enough to catch any continuity errors.
Fassbender and McEvoy certainly did credit to their characters, and Bacon *did* make an excellent villan.
One question. I own X-Men 1.5, X2 X-Men United, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and X3: The Last Stand. I've never watched them. In what order do you recommend I view them?
