Our local theatres have specific screenings for this. It's once a week in mid day where the lights aren't as dim and the sound isn't quite as powerful. Sometimes regular folk accidentally attend these screenings, bit the target audience is parents with babies or toddlers.

I wouldn't have minded seeing a Crybaby Matinee of the new Transformers - the IMAX version threatened to blow my ears out of my head anyways. ;)

My 2nd time seeing The Raid 2 at an Early Bird screening, the guy behind me kept falling asleep and snoring.

I saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last night at the best theater in town last night. Chose the 10:20pm showing, in hopes that everyone would be in bed. Nope, surprisingly the theater was half full. 3 teenagers were sitting in the row in front of me, one of them couldn't stop talking or laughing during the film. Luckily for me, I didn't have to say anything because one woman spoke up and told then to shut up. The guy tried to be funny and her boyfriend asked him 'What's your problem? What do you want to do right now?'. That shut him up for the rest of the film.

Luckily the affluent White community in my county are afraid of 'angry' minorities :lol:

I saw Basic Instinct in a packed theater in Wichita, KS, which at the time had a lot of gangs (not sure about now), and a man and woman brought their baby with them. It started crying and a huge black guy stood up in the middle of the theater and said "if you don't shut that baby up I will stick a gun in it's mouth". The family got up and left.

Exactly. The film industry relies on a lot of teenagers and kids going to see movies. Taking a baby or very young children is one thing, it's another to ban anyone under 18 from seeing movies at a theater.

Saw The Revenant a few weeks ago and 2 couples sat in the row behind my friend & I. They were pretty loud during the trailers and the entire time opening up beer bottles/drinking. Also they were ridiculously loud throughout the entire film, non-stop commentary.

I didn't want to say anything to theater management because I didn't want to put my friend in that awkward situation where we were still in the theater with those folks. I didn't know if that sort of thing would immediately get you booted.

So I talk to management after the film, telling them about my experience. They offered me passes and apologized. One of the girlfriends saw me having this conversation and she starts spouting stuff like "I thought Asians were supposed to have money? Is that $10 really worth it to you?". I tried to ignore her but she kept on with the ignorant nonsense.

I really love going to see films in the theater but I really hate dealing with crud like this.

I had bad experience in Deadpool. Some idiot was having a running commentary during the movie. I yelled at him several times to shut up. He would for 10 mins then start back up. So annoying that people just can't comprehend that others don't want to hear your comments about the movie.

I realized this past week what I hate most about the theater experience. The theater I go to no longer has popcorn buckets. All they have are bags. So during the movie all you hear is the crinkling of the bags as these animals inhale their popcorn. As if listening to them crunch and chew wasn't bad enough. Ahhhhhh, now I feel better.

My dad's guilty of this. I watched No Country For Old Men with him (A movie that has some super quiet moments in it) and had to elbow him from time to time about that.

I don't hold this against the patrons, frankly. It's the theater's fault for selling this shit, but that's how they make their money.

Ideally, you don't hear people chewing or the crinkling of packaging, but unless people are sneaking in potato chips and crinkling the bag, hard to get pissed at people for eating popcorn in a movie theater.

Generally, I don't eat at the movies. But, if I do, I hate when I get popcorn or food and the film goes silent. You can only chew popcorn so silently, it crunches. At theaters like Alamo and others that serve real food, utensils also come into play as well.

If only "Popcorn Movies" were really that and they only served popcorn/food for loud action fare where you'll never hear it.

Made my first trip to a Alamo Drafthouse to see Deadpool. First movie I have seen in theaters since Dark Knight. I am never going to any other theatre chain again. It was wonderful.

I've only lost it once in a theatre. This was a few years ago. My date and I were watching Life of Pi and the theatre was maybe 1/4 full. This woman sitting about 5 seats to my left (nobody in between) was narrating the movie to her kid and commenting on every single thing that happened ("Oh there's the tiger!", "Oh, the storm is really intense!"). I was getting increasingly frustrated and my date could tell. I started with The Stare at this lady to no avail. About 45 minutes in, when she was commenting yet again about the damn tiger, I couldn't take it anymore and shouted at top volume "DO YOU FUCKING MIND?!?". She looked shocked, as if it never occurred to her that she had been talking loudly non-stop since the movie began and was bothering the other guests. She shut up after that and remained silent for the rest of the movie.

As soon as the movie ended, my date cracked up, as she had managed to keep it in for the whole movie. She knows I am a very calm and patient person under almost all circumstances but when pushed too far, look out! She still tells the story of what happened to this day.

Eight years is nothing. The last movie I saw at a walk-in theater was The Lion King in 1994. I did go to a drive-in a couple of times in 1995 (too noisy, but I wanted to experience it again while I could). I just hate going to movie theaters.

A crying baby was the last straw for me, but the theater experience had been going downhill for years (kids acting up, running up and down the aisles, and people making loud stupid comments at the screen). I prefer to wait and watch movies at home. Luckily DVDs came out soon after I quit going to theaters, and a year or so later i got my first projector. Now, with a 3D projector and Blu-rays, I have absolutely no desire to go out to a movie.

Last year, I found an unused movie cash thing in a used Blu-ray I bought, and I couldn't convince myself to drive a half hour or so to get to a theater at a set time and watch a movie for free. It just seemed like too much of a hassle.

I saw The Revenant a few days ago, at a recently-built theater I hadn't been to before. It was supposed to be state-of-the-art everything, but major fail in that not only was the screen natively 1.85, but there was NO masking so the movie was shown letterboxed. I felt like I was watching a big TV. This seems to be the new trend in theaters lately, which means I'll be going even less often.

I hate people, nothing that I really absolutely had to see. Theater runs are so short now a days, I can wait 3 months or so to catch it, at home, when I can be comfortable.

I don't go to the movies often because in general people suck so when I do I usually wait a few weeks or more and go to the early bird show. I snuck in donuts the last time and while I tried to be as quiet as possible but I am sure several people in there hated me. But I did get through them in less than 10 mins so.. there is that.
