Yes, it is a solid cast. They were showing at Cannes recently bunch of stuff around that. Refn amonng others say it kind of gives a 40s Noir vibe...which is very interesting to me.

Refn is one of the best working in film right now, I'm in for that alone.

Well it was actually that Gosling that choose Refn. The producer gave him director choice...and he chose Refn. I find that very cool that he could choose the director but also that he picked Refn.

Nicolas Winding Refn won best director for Drive at Cannes. Good for him.

Only strengthens my admiration for Refn and my want to see this movie.

I can't even find a trailer for this movie. Anyone know when one is being released (i heard today at 7pm...but who knows)? Strange as the movie is due out in September.

I can see this making a solid amount of cash just based off that trailer.

I was excited enough for this film the moment I heard about it at Cannes but fuck....that trailer is pretty damn solid.

i absolutely cannot wait. looks like it was semi-inspired by Walter Hill's 70's neo-noir 'The Driver'... which was one of the best films from that decade as far as i'm concerned

Refn is one of the most innovative and skilled directors working. Only red flag that pops up for me is the screenwriter, who hasn't written anything great since the 90s. Normally Refn handles the scripts himself.

I find they tend to be obscene for the sake of being obscene. Besides, I'm more interested in the plot of the film than the elements that make it R. Also, if you can't communicate the tone of the film outside those same elements, then I think you have a problem since the elements that get you a R ratting aren't going to make up the majority of you screen time.
