The Lords of Salem (2011?) (dir. Rob Zombie)

Andy Gould (producer on all of Zombie's films) also produces with Jeremy Platt co-producing. The thriller is set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches. Zombie will write the script while on his upcoming concert tour circuit, and will shoot next year. Zombie told the site he originally hatched the Salem premise several years ago, but started stirring the cauldron again when he changed his plan to direct a remake of The Blob. I think The Devil's Rejects was awesome. Though...maybe I saw it sooo much when I got on DVD that I killed a lot of the fun I had w/ it. Didn't dig his 1st flick. I thought Halloween was too much trailer trash but I did enjoy it. never saw H2...and I don't think I ever will.
Much like Lemmy....LIMITED INTEREST for now..

Sounds like it might be interesting.
And I wouldn't really be bothered by historical inaccuracies (like burning at the stake instead of hanging) because it's just a horror movie loosely based on history.
And, while I didn't hate Zombie's "Halloween" (haven't seen the second one yet), I'd rather he stick to original concepts rather than do remakes. His remakes are always going to be held up against the original and viewed unfavorably/unfairly simply because of who he is, so I think he's better off sticking to his own original concepts.

First 100 minutes will be flashbacks to the witches childhoods, the ghosts won't appear until the last 10.

I'm intrigued by the premise, but Zombie hasn't done much to impress me lately. I'll wait for a trailer to reserve further judgment.
I absolutely agree; it's the only version I'll watch.
Limited interest, but definitely a little bit. I think his first two films are great, then the the next two (Halloween 1 & 2) suck ridiculous amounts of ass. However....the workprint of Halloween is so damned good (I mean waaayyyy better), I don't even count the theatrical versions of either H-flick as ever existing; I've completely disregarded them.

If Zombie truly wants to be taken seriously as a director, he needs to jettison everyone he's worked with and get a fresh cast in there.

I like that poster!
I'm fairly interested in this but my hopes aren't too high. The Devil's Rejects was pretty good, Halloween wasn't bad, Halloween 2 sucked HARD! This new film can't be much worse than Zombie's last effort.

No, but it can be readily found if you know where to look. I'll just say: argh. Although, that's an assumption because I don't pirate movies and I really don't know where to find them. I got my copy from a friend before it even hit theaters.

The workprint was a mix of the theatrical and the director's cut. If you watch both versions, you'll see all the scenes but I don't think any disc has the same layout as the WP.

Rob Zombie's Lords Of Salem (2012)
More in-depth plot details have been released, from Shock Till You Drop:
Heidi, a blond rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the "Big H Radio Team."
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, a gift of the Lords. She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lord's record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later, White plays the Lord's record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with his listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon, Heidi and her cohorts is far from the rock spectacle they're expecting. The original Lords or Salem are returning and they're out for blood.

Someone help me here... could this sound any dumber?

Re: Rob Zombie's Lords Of Salem (2012)
Being that the only Rob Zombie flick I enjoyed was Devil's Rejects, and that I will probably never forgive him for what he did to Halloween this is an easy pass for me. I like the idea if getting something in the mail and all kinds of crazy stuff happen, but from the plot synopsis it takes it to crappy extremes.

Damn, Zombie. Stick to music where you know what you're doing. You have never made a good movie in your life. It's just not your thing. Now, music....that's a different story. You're an incredible musician and a genuinely nice guy. A horrible movie maker, but a nice guy.

Re: Rob Zombie's Lords Of Salem (2012)
I would describe Rob Zombie's movies as "Modern Day Grindhouse Flicks".
I wonder what the status is on his other film, Tyrannosaurus Rex? I haven't heard anything about it in the past couple years or so.

Got excited when I read the thread title. Thought it would be about Salem Witch Trials and stuff like the movie Haxan. Then I read the real premise. Meh....
