Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

I have been driving myself CRAZY trying to find out what this movie I saw a while back was. I just recently watched a movie and it reminded me of this other movie I saw maybe 5-8 years ago that i LOVED but never caught the name of.

I'm looking for any info on this movie. I don't remember everything, but I've got a general summary for ya....

It's a sci-fi movie that takes place in some kind of laboratory/research facility.
I know they're growing something there - I believe its vegetables and such (i think this is important to the plot somehow).
Anyway, there's this alien there (don't know how it got there) and it's goal is to break out of the facility - the humans are trying to keep it in, to contain it.
I know it lays an egg towards the end of the film and then tries to escape by using a laser of some sort to blow open a wall.
It gets killed by the heroes who think its all over.
Turn out the alien has a hive mind with its young so the baby alien that's born from the egg knows everything that's happened until the moment of it's parents death so it knows all about the laser and the people there.
The baby succeeds in blasting open the wall, mush to the dismay of the heroes. I have no idea whether it actually escapes or not.
No idea how the movie ends.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
I think it was on Sci-Fi way back....
Can anyone provide me the title, or if you don't know the title but you've seen it - help better the description or recommend another place where I can ask about this? I tried the SyFy Channel forums but got ignored....
I REALLY wanna find this movie - but so far all my attempts have been for naught.
I will be EXTRAORDINARILY grateful for anyone who can help

Re: Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

Seriously, why do you guys waste your time posting stupid answers? The dude took the time to actually register for this site to ask this question because I can only assume he thought there were people here who knew enough about movies to answer his question. What's the point in fuckin with him?

Besides, the first stupid answer is very midly funny but by the 5th stupid answer it's just stupid.

Yeah I've been here for a while. I see these threads all the time and the vast majority of the time people actually try to help the poster out and not mess with them. I guess because the guy was new people felt the need to screw with him, but I don't understand why. The post was well written and respectful. It would be one thing if it was full of grammatical errors and the poster came off looking like a jerk, but he just came here looking for an answer to a question and got fucked with. Makes no sense to me.

At least somebody gave him a real answer.

Christ...it's like being the new kid in school.

It might be this....but is there just one of the monsters in this or more than one? I'm pretty sure there was only one of the monsters in the movie I saw.

Also, the monster in the movie I want to find out about it's main goal is to escape from the building it's in - the people get killed when they try to stop it; it doesn't go after them to murder them.

Does this sound like Syngenor or am I still looking?

Re: Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

I think you're still looking.

I've searched with variations of your info and got nowhere.

If you can think of anything more specific, post it.

Re: Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

Uh, let me see if I can remember anything else.....
Um... the monster trying to escape was a big deal, I think the heroes didn't want it to escape under any circumstances for some reason.....
It was PROBABLY an alien instead of a monster....I'm pretty sure on that
Uh, the main characters were a guy (not sure what he did) but I think the main lady was one of the researchers/scientists...and I'm gonna say brown or black hair (not 100% on that)
It was definalty some kind of laboratory building since there were rooms with science equipment and such
And this big gigantic laser gun that was used as I said.....
I THINK some kind of military gets involved at the very end when the baby alien breaks free - not sure if they just kill it or if they destroy the whole facility
This movie had to be like 6+ years ago, maybe more.... I know it was BEFORE the sci-fi channel did a revamp (was it the spelling of their name or the logo that got switched).
Sheesh...... um..... it MIGHT (not 100% sure on this either) have aired around the time the sci fy channel showed the movie Atomic Train (which was made in 1999) on one day (both parts together). This is a BIG might.... but my head says yes...so I'm posting it.
I also think it was one of the movies aired either during the summer on on a weekend when Sci fi used to have like marathons of movies on one after another
Does any of this help?

Re: Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

There was a made for TV movie on Sci-fi about the Mars Kiking probe returning with an alien in it, but I doubt it is the film you are looking for.

Re: Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

What you're describing really does still sound like Syngenor to me, if I'm recalling it correctly.

Re: Can ANYONE Identify this movie?

Definitely not Syngenor: that had a big gun to be sure, but multiple aliens, and the ending is way different. I'll be discreet and avoid spoilers.
