The first clear recollection I have of sitting in a theater watching a movie is "Willow".

Yes, it has to be Bambi (and yes, the movie did experience a re-release or two, chucklehead. . )

Poltergeist is the first one I can remember. I was five, and I was terrified.

Oh and I just remember going , I was not old enough to enjoy movies in 1977. I did not really start enjoying movies until I was 14 , The Terminator was the movie that I got my start loving movies. I saw it like 5 times in 1984. To this day I have seen it over 35 times.

Disney's Robin Hood was my first. It was during it's first theatrical run, not a re-release.

Re: What is the first movie you ever saw in a movie theater?

I know my mom took me to see E.T. I remember being overwhelmed by the experience of being in an auditorium full of people, in the dark. I was three. I also remember being taken to a drive-in to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I don't recall much about the experience, except I think it rained before the movie started.

Probably not the first one but definitely the first one I can remember was Disney's Oliver & Company.

For some reason I remember seeing star wars but I turned 3 in November of 77.. Im guessing it must have been re-released a few years later.

Hmm...I saw Star Wars in the summer of '77 when I was 9....I don't THINK that was the first movie I saw in theaters, but I don't remember any before that.

I was 6 1/2 when it came out in May '88. I still remember the theater I saw it at in Windsor, CT.

Re: What is the first movie you ever saw in a movie theater?

Puss n Boots(1961) We went after church on a Sunday afternoon when I was about 8. I looked it up and this was a Mexican musical that was pretty weird. I also remember going to the drive in and seeing The Charge of the Light Brigade along with The Night They Raided Minsky's. Being about 13 at that time I was almost positive I saw boobies. Ah, a night to remember.

Re: What is the first movie you ever saw in a movie theater?

I was born in '71.I have very vague memories of seeing Disneys Robin Hood and Fantastic Planet..so either of those very well could be the first movie I saw in a theater.

Re: What is the first movie you ever saw in a movie theater?

Wow... memory lane thing.

I vividly remember seeing King Kong '76 on the big screen. I love that film to this day just because of the impression it left on me when I was young. That may have been the first film I chose to go see at the movies but I'm not sure.

Also I remember seeing 'The Island of Dr Moreau' '77 very clearly. Those are two of my earliest memories.

Of course 'Star Wars'. I still remember the first time I saw the trailers for that. It was like something from the future or an alien civilization, it blew all our minds.

The oldest movie going memory I have is seeing the rerelease of Song of the South in 86, but that is only a few flashes. My first full movie memory is Who Frammed Roger Rabbit.

E.T. and Beastmaster are the first two that come to mind. I specifically remember seeing E.T. something like 8 times in the theater.

I'm fairly certain it was Ghostbusters.
